With the bobbed bed it's like a little disproportionate toy that’s a lot of fun in the rocks.

    plasma cutters are pricey

can the stock tabs (before mounting JD pivots) be cut off with oxyacetylene torch?
also would the heat damage surrounding metal?

Angle grinder with a cutoff wheel and flap fist will be better

I was gonna use an angle grinder (need to figure out which discs to get) for the final prep work of grinding it kinda smooth/rough bare metal exposed to weld on
    BUT
to actually cut the big factory ears themselves, seemed like a job for a cutting tool like torch or plasma?
Which would leave some short stubby nubs sticking out a few mm from the frame, that would then need to be ground after, no?

nah, the factory tabs are very easy to cut, as he mentioned just use an angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut them off and then a flap disc to smooth it out

Just get some cutoff wheels. Might take a couple wheels to get it done. Then flap disc smooth.
I haven't done it myself, but that's what I did when I chopped the old 'runners' off the used weld-on sliders I bought.

I cut my original truck apart with a die grinder and it worked fine, just takes longer than with a plasma cutter

Order some cutt-off wheels, grinding disks and flap wheels from here: https://benchmarkabrasives.com/

They will cut through the stock tabs like butter, and last 2 or 3 times longer than HD or Lowes shit.

How has the JD fab LCA frame been? Was the install pretty straight forward? I just found that today and I might consider getting it.

How many Aluminum pucks come with the kit? Before cutting your stock tabs off, do you need to get a ball park measurement on how far fwd the center of your hub is in order to figure out what thickness puck you need?

I have a chaos +3.5 kit that I have had on for some 10 years. I do have the chaos cam tab gussets, but my alignment is still crap.

Uh, did you read the thread as to what kind of kit this is? Pucks? What pucks? This is a weld on kit that replaces the factory LCA tabs, moving the forward and making them stronger.
