Ive got a 2017 tacoma with a brake light issue. The normal tail lights stay on when the lights are on but then when the brake pedal is depressed the drivers side brake light does not come on and the middle bulb shuts off. Ive changed the bulb, and checked the socket for voltage which there is the amount there should be. At this point I'm thinking its the ground wire for the brake light or possibly the brake light switch(which might not make sense because the passenger side one works fine) Please help with suggestions and where i might find where the ground wire is grounded. Thanks!!!

Hard to say but I would start with swapping the driver's-side bulb with the passenger-side and see if the problem follows or not.

Check bulb type to make sure you did not put parking lights in instead of brake lights (and vice versa). Get those mixed up and it causes all kinds of wierd issues.

Are they factory taillights and bulbs or aftermarket?

Hood Struts, My version Fogs always ON, Map & Overhead Light Mod,
The ground is shared by ALL the rear lamps to a single point on the left rear chassis.
I'd verify the wiring for some chaffing since it's affecting 2 circuits, STOP & TAIL.
