Apparently I'm getting a new Mac at work, didn't think anything was wrong with my other one, but OK

I wonder if I can convince them to let me have the old one, my Mac desktop at home is old and slow AF

Not to mention my laptop crapped out last year and I still haven't replaced it.

Aren't you friends with someone in the IT department? Shouldn't be too hard to convince them to have fall off the back of a truck, so to speak

Yeah my buddy is the IT guy here, well he works directly under the IT director.

I'll ask him but I have a feeling the company has some kind of deal with Apple where we get new equipment every so often and return the old stuff so it can be refurbished/resold.

Harbor Freight is really coming up in quality. I had one of their 90’s sandblasting cabinets and it was a piece of plastic crap. The last one I bought from them was amazing and high quality sheet metal and glass.

So what's the appeal for Mac in a professional setting?

I ended up buying an Icon on a whim as I left both 3/8 at home, and misplaced the one in my truck.

Found it later and decided to keep the Icon in the truck from now on.

Half the company here uses Mac and the other half uses PC (which often presents its own set of problems)...over here in the studio its all Mac based, back when we had an actual creative team that consisted of more than just me. Mac is generally more user friendly with Adobe and other design programs.

The other side of the building mostly uses the same programs but they are all PC people so that's what they get.

I really just think it boils down to what you're familiar with more than anything.

The only Snap-On tools I own are their ratchets. I always have a need for the extendo 1/2 drive one, I have this total crap Chinese one I found laying on the floor pan of a 1985 Cadillac DeVille. Was thinking of buying the Snap On one but might see if Icon has one.

Some programs we use here are PC only, so I have to use a remote desktop system to access them via PC on my Mac. I dunno, it's weird. But at least I'm able to do it, god forbid you ask someone on the other side to do something on a Mac and its like the world is ending.
