Slide In Campers? Fourwheel Campers? Whats your total Weight?

Any chance you've measured the curb weight (with a full tank) after all the mods?

Just trying to do the math here... Stock curb for your truck should be 4315 lbs, with a payload of 1285 lbs, so with the camper and gear weighing in at 900 lbs, that leaves 385 lbs leftover for driver/passenger, and any "mods" installed on the truck.

 

I've got a buddy that was over 7K before swapping out his topper for a GFC...

 

I have not yet. I always tell myself to but I forget. I’ll sneakily stop by the dump on my way to work and see what the truck weighs

 

It's probably about 1100lbs for the payload. My 3rd gen sport access cab is 1120lbs on the sticker if I remember right.

 

Yeah, like mentioned it's a tad over 900lbs in the base model which is what we got. No solar, kitchen, basket storage, or the table pictured. The brochure will have all the options in it. We kept the water system simple so less to worry about and more how we usually camp. I wouldn't care to have to go inside the camper every time we needed water so no attached tank except for a 1 gal rotopax. It's the same reason we purchased an electric cooler instead of a fridge. We share a lot of the same ideas, just different install techniques.

Bare bones will work well for us, too. But we do already have a fridge we plan to use with the Scout. It won't fit like they normally do in the Yoho, but we'll make it work. We also will keep using our ancient Coleman stove. We built a hot water system for the Habitat, but not sure if we want to figure a way to use it with the Yoho. Figure the room temperature water in the hanging jug will probably do the job of washing dishes and stuff without it being annoyingly cold.

I scanned through the last 5 pages of the link you posted. Good stuff for sure. I'll continue digging through when I have some more time. That big ford with the decked system under the Kimbo was pretty sweet, lol.

 

It's a catch-22. The truck handles better with the suspension, including Dobinsons MRA coilovers/shocks and leafs, airbags, hammer hangers, spindle gussets, LCA gussets, UCA's, wider wheels and tires, plus armor (I know, optional), but the weight is way over. I tried the camper on the truck with only airbags, and it handled like a boat. Now, with the suspension, it's solid as a rock. Big brake kit is next, but probably should have been first. This Northstar has a full kitchen w/ two-way fan, refrigerator, lights, nook w/ Lagun table, furnace, solar w/ inverter, 13 gallons of water, 5 gallons of propane, kayak rack, batwing, and it came with an air conditioner to boot! We've stayed in 20 degree weather for 5 nights. I can comfortably do 80 mph down the freeway (YMMV, literally). Best forum evar!

That sounds great and applying what already worked to your Scout should spec it out perfectly. The @nelsonator defiantly has a sweet system and I believe has plans for a hot water system too. We don't feel too bad for him since he doesn't have a Taco.

 

E Rated Tires installed, did the chop as well. Not sure if it was needed but my other car is "lowered" and rubs, not trying to rub in the truck! I have an awesome opportunity to buy a UTE Flatbed Tray next week.(Thank you Tacoma World!) Taking advantage of it. Air bags after that then I am Camper ready! Load me up.

FWC project m could be an option as well. It is around 350lbs and has a full size queen.

 

We tip the scales at 6450. Fully loaded with two people, two large dogs, 13 gallons of water, full fuel and multi week camping gear load out.
I haven’t regeared yet but do run the 93 Octane OV Tune which helps a ton. I don’t have any trouble with handling, stopping or driving 80.
