Even though the sport and adventure are sold out, we still have plenty of the white commercial caps available.

    New Product Announcement!

For all of the second gen Tacoma guys that have been asking us, the Adventure series caps for your trucks are almost here. We are now taking pre-order deposits for the Adventure series only, 5ft and 6ft beds, for the second gen trucks. The pre-order deposit is $100. This is fully refundable should you change your mind (up to the point of shipment) and the final balance will be collected approximately two weeks prior to shipment. The $100 will be applied towards the remaining balance.

    RSI Smartcap Adventure 2nd Gen 5ft Bed - $3495
    RSI Smartcap Adventure 2nd Gen 6ft Bed - $3495

Current estimate for these caps to start shipping out is late August to early September. There will be limited quantities arriving and will very likely be completely sold out before the first containers arrive. If you're wanting one we urge you to place your $100 deposit now. And yes, we're still covering the freight costs on these within the lower 48 states.

The Sport series caps will likely be available towards the end of the year, possibly early next year. Details will be published once we have more information.

Do you have available the two items in this screenshot? I asked frontrunner and this was what they recommend for mounting the slimline rack to the smartcap (But they’re not in stock)

No sorry we have had to switch to the 60-70 mm feet and square nuts for now. A little taller but you don't have to wait 60 days to put a rack on a cap you already waited months for anyways.
We can set you up with some if you like.

My concern is having the shovel and axe up high on the bottom of the roof and if the quickfists will be able to ensure the shovel and axe don't come flying out of the quickfists and through the rear window should we get in an accident.

Oh, right! hmm, I guess I'd just suggest seeing what the carrying weight capacities are for your quickfists are and try not to go over that. I'm mounting my quickfists to my molle panels today and im heading to shasta tomorrow to do a 100mile trail run. I can let you know how they do while holding my shovel throughout. You could try Koplin Rhino Grips because they are heavier duty but the mounting points might be harder. I ran those on my bed bars before the cap. They came with extra strong rubber band like things to hold the clamp shut on the tool/rifle.

The holding capacity is 50lbs (for 2, 25lbs each) but in an accident at 30mph the g forces can be up to 30gs so an 8lb axe is now 240lbs.......

Thinking that maybe a C Channel that I can put the head of the axe and shovel in may be a good piece of mind.

Question for the folks with the EVOa...do you miss the windows for shoulder checking/changing lanes? It's the only thing really giving me pause on the EVO vs the EVOa...

I have a DCSB with an EVO Sport. Looking through the back seat windows is about the same, except with less peripheral through the passenger side. The tint is so dark, especially combined with the back window tint, that I'd have to spend way too much time looking over my shoulder to see through the windows. At this point the only benefit the Sport offers me is the ability to slide the window open for my pooch. Otherwise, if I could do it over, I would just get the EVOa.

That is awesome feedback, thanks! I'm all soft, so the dog gets the back seat, no need for windows lol.

For the Evo A I haven't had any trouble seeing cars/bikers in my blind spot and I live in a very biker friendly area. I'm glad I chose the Evo A because I heard a lot about the windows leaking for the normal Evo Sport. I haven't had one issue with leaking for my cap. BUT I will say, because I do have two dogs, I wish I had a small window to open while driving so they could hang out back there for the ride. All in all, the dogs still ride in my cab because I deleted my rear seats and the Evo A is still less likely to leak in my opinion. They also come with molle panels on the inside so I can mount many things to (under 20lbs).

Ummm not really a capacity of 50lbs, be careful. There are a lot of factors at work, all things equal, yes 50lbs of dead weight equally distributed - But tools are seldomly balanced (like your axe) and will result in each fist holding a diff load,... And like you mentioned - momentum (p=mv) and slowing down. The rate at which you slow down is a factor worth considering.

I have a DCLB. Thought I would miss them - I don't. Makes me pay a little more attention to lane change and change a little slower though (waiting for the horn, road rage, and possible shots fired as I move).
What I do wish I had/miss about the "A" is the window on the door - would be nice to put dogs back there and let them chill. But not without ventilation from a window.

Hah, she rides in the bed when I am taking her around town and driving slow but I won’t risk going too fast with her back there. Anything faster and she gets the hammock in the back seat, but not for long. We’re getting another dog so we’ll be picking up some kennels to strap down in the bed and keep them safe in case of an accident.

Dogs are definitely one of if not the top reason why we hear people choose to the Sport over the Adventure.

I wanted, and originally ordered the sport, a couple weeks after placing the order I asked again about lead times and was told it was extended a couple months but the EVOa was available now. I changed the order to the EVOa, and in hindsight glad I did.

The rear side glass would really provide no functional visibility. I had a Softopper previously so I wasn’t missing any visibility on the rear sides anyway and I knew it wouldn’t bother me. The only loss, like the other response, having the little window to slide open for my dogs. They will be just fine w/ out it.

Another negative that would drive me crazy w/ the side glass... keeping it clean. May not sound like a big deal, and might not be bothersome to some, but the couple times I’ve washed the truck since installing the cap the soap dries fast on the back glass and after rinsing leaves visible marks that are not present on the solid black panels. It’s an easy solution of just hitting it with glass cleaner, but tripling the glass would make that more obnoxious.

What size bolt and thread pattern are needed to utilize the rivnuts in the ceiling where the table mounts?

I’m thinking about mounting some chairs up there at least until my table gets here.
