I think today was my last mid day ride of the spring/summer.
Mornings and late evenings at sundown are doable still. But just finished 9 miles in 93 degrees with no wind or shade and I'm absolutely spent. I get spoiled working at a pool store that keeps temps around 70-73 degrees due to chemicals. Its nice to be that temp but it sure does make me feel the heat more than when I wasn't working there.

One of my regular riding buddies just smoked me on a ride this evening. My excuse is a toddler and sympathy weight with my pregnant wife.

Man..... damn. Tonight was a good lonely ride, with costly and painful mistakes.

First fall no damage to body, but expensive mistake was my kashima.

I should’ve taken a photo of where I fell the second time. It was in one of the more challenging rock gardens mid way on west ridge (local trail). I couldn’t make it dabbed and when foot hit the rock it went side ways bc it was very jagged and at an angle. So I more instinctively than quick thinking pulled my foot up and went tumbling. The hill was big enough that the bike tumbled on top of me lol. It wasn’t like a mountain, but a small hill kinda. Probably 5’.

Anyways I’ll be on the clapped out Firebird at Knoxville.

Jeezbus man. Where the hell are you? Just when things were starting to look good here in CO, we're getting a few days of cold rain and snow... again. Not a lot, but enough to kill it for at least a week.
    F6246BE9-FAD0-497A-BC46-7626F5E928CF.jpg

Glad you didn't tweak your ankle man. That definitely sucks, but could have been way worse.
If you can feel those scratches, you need t fix it.
I've fixed many of those scratches before. The basic fix is to get the finest emery paper you can find, make sure you get the surface smooth so that nothing is sticking out, get some epoxy on the scratches (as little as possible, dab it in with a pin), use the emery paper again to get it smooth and flush with the surface. **Sand as little as possible.
It won't look great, but it'll work awesome. You don't want any gauges in there, you shouldn't feel anything with your fingernail. Otherwise those scratches will kill your seals pretty quick.
You can also order new uppers (with crown) for a decent price. Get some new stickers for the lowers, and you'll have a new looking fork again. If you care.

Is there anything special about the epoxy, care on maybe sharing a link?

Also, I’m looking for any 27 or 29 Factory 36 at 170mm / 44mm. I can go as old at 2015 and my internals and lowers will fit. I don’t think they’ve made any improvements on stanchion and top crown since then anyways.

Also the ankle hurt worse this morning, keeping it as straight as possible. I can put weight on it and everything, but trying not to work it to help with some healing.

edit: just watched this video, seams easy enough.

I'm jealous. I love the heat - 95 and humid, bring it on that's when I ride the best! Where you hiding? I want to move there.

We had a good stretch, warm (ish, only 65) and dry for a few weeks. Going to be soggy after Sunday for a while though.

I work in Aero manufacturing, we're temperature controlled across the plant, that is nice sometimes.

Phoenix. We're about a month out from 105 as far as I've seen. It does get annoying with over 120 days straight of 100+ degrees

    me want.

I was actually out there a few weeks ago, I really liked Phoenix! It was funny - sunny and 75 and everyone was bundled up in jackets and hoodies, here I am the tourist walking around shorts and a t-shirt

Guess I missed the good weather by a few weeks :( got sunny 90 and humid in eastern TX and LA though, so did get to enjoy it!

i got a pretty good scratch on my stanchions last summer (yea both of them). i spent a bit of time looking at options, repair it, get new uppers, get a new fork. i ended up getting one of these kits https://www.sendhit.net/ that worked pretty well. my scratches were a bit deep and i had to do it a couple times. the first time i was a bit frustrated and just globbed the black epoxy on and it took like 2 days to dry. then i sanded it all down and did it again. the kit includes everything you need, but you may need some different gloves if you do it a second time.

i didnt have much luck finding upper replacements, maybe the bike shortage is to blame.

Here riding season at least for me is November-march. At any point in the day. Around now is when it switches to early morning/sunset night rides

No I don't have any on my phone. I can take one when I get home after work though.

Disclaimer, it doesn't look new, but it works.

I prefer to see bikes used than show pieces without any indication of use. It’s more fun to huck it than play it safe anyway :D
