I've said from the beginning of this that there is another possible outcome so you are not alone.

IMO there's a strong probability of a trading halt. With a share count now being forced by some brokerages that could be the reason for the halt. It will get halted so there can be an investigation. The investigation will find that many hedgies used illegal naked shorting. They will be fined with a slap on the wrist and the stock will resume trading. Minus those naked positions.

I fucking hope I'm wrong but that's how shit like this normally plays out.

Think about how crazy that is..You were basically slipping into them selling to themselves...and those 300 shares you bought now leave them short 300 shares because you intercepted them...That's how retail traps shorts...OR big money.
I had some $GTii fill at like $1.57 in my fidelity when the bid/ask was like $1.65+...filled slowly like 25 or 30 shares at a time...

 

If I start stealing cars from the dealership's back lot and selling them on the side, I don't just get a slap on the wrist, I get to go to jail.

I think this could be the benchmark for no longer slapping wrists and making people pay...I think they have continually dug themselves in a DEEPER hole so they can turn and say "But look at the consequences..you can't mean we have to pay??"

 

This is what I thought would happen before I bought, and that's the reason in my mind that money is gone, but I know if we do get screwed over in this way there will be lots of angry people and I'll be able to say I was a part of it. Maybe there will be one of those commercials in 10 years saying if you or a loved one were involved in the GME scandal contact us because you may be eligible for compensation lol. But I do believe in the movement. Plus it's interesting to see something move so differently from any market standard we've ever seen.

 

But people now own those naked shares. So there are more shares out there than were even released, they cant just make those naked shares disappear or add them to the pool, someone has to pay for them.

Does anyone have a good visual that shows real shares vs naked shares and what percentage of real shares is currently owned? or are we all in the dark as far as knowing how many shares are owned?

 

Nope. We're all guessing at this point based on data we can pull together. If we actually had that information this thing would have been long done by now.

Yep. Blackrock. FMR, Vanguard, Mogan will sell there shares at current market price to the hedgies to bail them out. Problem solved. Nobody has any real numbers on how many shares are sold naked. This recall will get those numbers. Then steps will be taken to correct it.

 

Ok, here's the minor flaw I see with that. Retail owns over 100% of the float already. You're talking about hedge funds having to sell back and forth to each other over and over again to cover everything.

No way Blackrock suddenly gets charitable and decides to help out a competitor unless they're forced to by the .gov. Can you imagine the outcry if that was to happen? Total loss of faith in the US markets.

We know with pretty good certainty there's at least another 100% of the float in naked shorts. At least.

 

They don’t need to cover everything all at once. Nothing is forcing their hand.
