Ok I’ll get this thread going. My boss invited me to do some backpacking on the Appalachian trail one weekend. Link me something portable that I can sleep in. I can’t bring my RTT lol

@pdaddy I would go with this. I have been eyeing it for a while due to price like Brian. Can’t go wrong with 23Zero.

My neighbor backpack hikes. We discussed about possible doing something similar with Dylan and his son at some point.

I’m torn between this and a hammock. I like the tent but hammock would be easier to get comfortable

Those enclosed hammocks are nice. My neighbor is a former long distance track runner and continues to run long distances daily. They go hiking every weekend. They went on their longest hike/camp trip a couple weekends back. He said it was pretty grueling. He said the smaller trips he thought had prepared them but said they still had work to do in hiking with all equipment.

    Morning!

    From AlabamaWX
MORE ACTIVE WEATHER AHEAD: We have a few scattered showers and storms over the southern half of Alabama early this morning, but North Alabama is dry just before sunrise. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop statewide later today as the air becomes very unstable. It won’t rain everywhere, but where storms do form they will be capable of producing some hail and strong gusty winds. Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds today with a high around 80 degrees.

SEVERE STORMS LIKELY LATE TONIGHT/EARLY TOMORROW: A dynamic weather system will bring multiple waves of thunderstorms to Alabama after midnight tonight into tomorrow morning. SPC has defined an “enhanced risk” of severe thunderstorms (level 3/5) for areas west of a line from Birmingham to Evergreen to Mobile, with a “slight risk” (level 2/5) for the rest of the state. Keep in mind the “Day 1” outlook is valid through 7:00 a.m. CT tomorrow.

TIMING: The main threat of severe thunderstorms for North/Central Alabama is from midnight tonight through 10:00 tomorrow morning. A few storms could linger over the southeast corner of the state through noon.

THREATS: The main concern is the potential for damaging straight line winds with the lines and clusters of storms that pass through. Some hail is also possible, and a tornado or two can’t be ruled out, especially south of I-20.

RAIN: Rain amounts of 1-2 inches are likely overnight, with isolated amounts to 3 inches. Some flooding issues could develop in scattered spots.

It is important to pay attention to severe thunderstorm warnings that are issued overnight since the main threat is from straight line winds. The sky becomes partly to mostly sunny late tomorrow morning and through the afternoon as a dry slot moves into the state… the high will be in the mid 70s.

SUNDAY AND NEXT WEEK: The weather will be dry Sunday through Tuesday with mostly sunny days and fair nights… the high Sunday will be in the mid 70s, and close to 80 Monday and Tuesday. A few showers and storms are likely Wednesday, followed by dry weather Thursday and Friday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1947: An estimated F5 tornado struck Woodward, Oklahoma during the late evening killing 95 persons and causing six million dollars damage. The tornado, one to two miles in width, and traveling at a speed of 50 mph, killed a total of 167 persons along its 221-mile path from Texas into Kansas, injured 980 others, and caused nearly ten million dollars damage.

It's all about the lower bushing size. 4th Gen 4runner, and 2005-2021 Tacomas, GX470 all use the same sized front struts and lower bushings so they'll work on your 3rd Gen the same as the 2nd Gen would

Guys, talk to me about products you've bought from these companies: Trail-Gear, Wheeler's, Low Range, and All-Pro. They reached out to me to sell their products, and wanted to check with some good ole boys on your experiences with their parts, if any, and if there's anything I need to be cautious of.

I need their brake lines and add-a-leafs at a minimum, since I pass up sales of those items almost daily.

Only thing that's come up that I can recall is Wheeler's use a low grade U-bolt, only grade 5 from memory.

Ive had the Wheelers front and rear super bumps for a while now like 3 or so years and i can say those are one of the best upgrades for the money. They are high quality. The mounting hardware is ok, like you said not grade 8 but i haven't had an issue. ll probably replace when i have to change out the U-bolts with grade 8's. Mounting plates are fine. I wouldn't touch All pro leaf springs with a 10 foot pole though.

Ive got the wheelers AAL on stock leafs, it’s held up really well for the past two years, I haven’t noticed much sag, if any, even with my recent tire carrier addition.

    0508DDA7-3154-4CDD-BFFA-02C5E9B53CDB.jpg

Also I have the trail gear rock assault rear bumper. I fabbed it up for the tire carrier but strength wise no issues, I’ve drop it on rocks and back into plenty of hard things. Including a chick fi la sign yesterday:rofl:

Trail Gear is buying up every company they can get their hands on. I think they even bought out headstrong recently, and haven’t heard positive things about the transition from what it used to be.

I had good experiences with wheelers before they went under trail gear, but don’t have any current product experience. I have the wheelers u bolt flip with a Dobinsons leaf pack and have’t had any issues with it. Also have super bumps in the front.

haven’t heard many good things from people that run trail gear parts on trucks that get wheeled hard though, but it doesn’t sound like you would be selling dual case adapters or power steering pumps.

That's good info, thanks. The Superbumps are a fair bit cheaper than the Timbrens I already sell

Yeah, that's right. Not the hard offroad stuff, just some of the add-ons that would compliment what I already sell, and also to give people a 2nd option.
