Drive shaft and front diff are out. I ready for more upgrades.

 

I would use wood for the base plate and bottom plate and then screw the metal bottom track to the bottom plate and do more of a hybrid version of the traditional floating wall. Then build your steel stud wall on top of that.

If you're pulling a permit and getting it inspected I would call an inspector and ask if he would pass this to avoid having to redo it in the traditional way.
