Getting my 10k done at the local stealer.
    Saw this sitting out front.
Spit my service center espresso out as soon as I saw the sticker.
    Holy moly guacamole! $90k!!?!?
The vehicles you can get when your in the ball park of 90k.. I don't think I'd ever consider a land cruiser unless I had serious :brianr: money.
    Nice truck, I guess. I'm sure it's very capable and reliable... but 90k?? 20210409_094332.jpg 20210409_094414.jpg 20210409_094433.jpg

Welcome to capitalism my friend. LCs have always been overpriced this side of the pond.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy. 14 yr old design for almost six figures.
difficult to justify when you can spend $30,000 less on a TRD pro Sequoia (with the same drivetrain i think) or $15,000 less for a Lexus GX570.
All three are archaic designs, but hey, you are spending the money for the land cruiser badge and a $200 Amazon roof basket.

I had to do a triple take at that price and make sure they didn't put a range rover sticker in the window.
I just don't understand the market for these and who's buying them, but I guess everyone has a favorite flavor.
Only way I see an interest in this is if you're WAYYY into Land Cruisers and you want your family to belittle and eventually leave you because of your poor decision making and taste.

Also like the OP already eluded to, all the vehicles you can get for the money. Much higher build qualities and finer materials.
Not that we need to start a list because it would be very long, but this would be my choice for the money. In fact, its cheaper.

Also, I honestly and whole-heartedly thought this was a pre-owned vehicle they just had on display. Thought for sure it was gonna be like a 2011 with new wheels on it.
    Nah son. Brand new fuckery.

    Beautiful.
We could easily make a 20 page thread (not that hard to accomplish around here considering the bed mat theft thread) with a list of cars that have way more bang for the buck.

Land Cruisers have a following. People will pay that price just because they can, and want to. I am a LC fan and would strongly consider it if I was in the $90k vehicle market.
Look at it this way; you can easily spend $200k on an imported Italian sports car that is crap quality and zero practicality; just because you can and want to. Lots of people do if the money is not an issue.
    It's all relative.

Unfortunately, these days the LC is a luxury vehicle for soccer moms to drive. Rich soccer moms whose husband's understand the status symbol and heritage of the LC. Just wait 5-10 years when they sell it, you can then pick it up for a bargain with only 75-100K and all dealer service complete.

And to be honest, the LC Heritage Edition would probably be near the top of my list as well if I were going to drop $90k on a new vehicle.

Honestly though, I'd probably build a Ram 2500 Prospector, flatbed, and FWC. Way more capable and practical for travel.

80 series Land Cruisers were in the 50k range in the mid 90's, which adjusted for inflation puts them in the same price range as the new 200's. They've been $$$ for a long time.

Here's a window sticker from a 1997 80 series, adjusted for inflation puts it at $86,550.94 today.

This is exactly why Toyota discontinued them in North America. Their studies found that people wouldn't as willingly spend $80k+ on a Toyota, but make the same vehicle with a Lexus badge and they will sell 5x as many units. These have a large cost because they sell in small volumes. They sell just fine in Australia and Toyota will continue to make them and sell them over there. Personally, I love the LandCruiser and if I was in the market for one I wouldn't hesitate to drop $60k on one that is 3 or 4 years old with 50k miles or so.

i think the appeal of land cruisers, besides its capabilties is its simplicity. $90k for old school simplicity? all the reviews talk about buttons and dials ( i got those) body of frame (yup) and exclusivity (they dont make 2nd gens anymore), over engineered to last 30 years ( we'll see) as much as i love them, i love my taco more. its paid off

    Lots of misinformation here.
    • 60 series and up have always been a premium priced model.
    • They are expensive regardless of what continent you are on.
    • It's not the same as a 4Runner or Sequoia.
