Recently gave my son my 2007 Ridgeline w/130k on it. Other than a few small dings it was immaculate and looked almost new. Plenty of room, fast enough, looked cool(to me), rode great. Picked up a 2021 Tacoma SR 4wd v6 a few weeks ago. Last Tacoma was a 1998. Loving this 2021. Rides great, fast enough for me, good MPG, and looks good too. A little shy on room for “stuff” but as long as I can get a couple of big bucks in the bed during deer season I’m good.

I just bought a Tacoma and it’s really not what I expected. Honestly I was in the market for Ridgeline but realizing it was the only FWD truck ruined it for me. Tacoma drives like a truck. Coming from over 10 years of driving BMWs, Tacoma isn’t a great daily despite what you see and hear. For me, the choice was to get a nice loaded truck to daily for a few years or just get a cheap trim as extra vehicle for work. I didn’t want to bother with extra car so here I am with a Tacoma. But one thing for sure is, it sure as heck handles bumps better. I don’t regret my decision, feel it was a good one. I’ll just look forward to getting back in a BMW daily in the future though.

Buys a truck then complains that it doesn't drive like his Bimmer ----- Priceless

Oh and by the way the Ridgeline comes in AWD so you could have gotten that one and likely been much happier than with the Taco, which is a real truck.

AWD or not if the vehicle mostly drives FWD it feels more like FWD than RWD. I’m not exactly complaining, no regrets. Just taking time to get used to a truck.

Disagree here. The Pro with a manual tranny will offer the best ride and plenty of power.

It’s funny you should mention that, I was just think how cell phones are ruining those types of views. Cell phones don’t belong in back pockets.

Everyone evaluates the level of quality and comfort via their previous experiences, where they live, and their usual driving or needs. However, for God's sake, some common sense has to be applied too. Vehicles can't be all things to all people and when they try to be they aren't good at anything. The more specialized a vehicle is, the less overall it will be good at because some things were sacrificed to make it perform well in a very narrow area. Realistically, a buyer should decide what he/she wants from a vehicle based on what it can and cannot do and make a realistic decision. It's not realistic to come off a sport sedan or a luxury vehicle, buy a truck and then complain it rides like a truck; of course it does. That's like complaining your 5 Series doesn't trail well or saying it's not a good city car because you have to slow for intersections.

If you buy a truck, any truck, or a Jeep, or many SUVs, it isn't going to ride like a sport sedan, luxury car, or a mini van. These vehicles have tow rating which is one of their selling points. That means they have stiff suspension, body on frame design, LT load rated tires, and are higher off the ground. All of which conspire to make the ride rougher, turning less precise, and induce noise into the cabin. Generally, these vehicles have solid rear axels, some have solid front and rear in the case of Jeeps and older trucks. That means they handle like an ox cart. If you are coming off something that is independent front and rear, coil sprung, and unibody, it's going to feel a little different. Trucks generally don't have a favorable power to weight ratio, so they also are generally not quick or get good mileage. If those are your primary wants, you want something else. If you need to tow, haul, or like to off road; you might be a truck guy... Maybe.

It's unrealistic, and frankly a bit annoying to complain the mid size truck you bought doesn't handle, perform, or is as quiet as your last super whiz-bang track inspired, race badged, whatzit. It's too loud, it's not a good city car. Maybe a truck isn't for you. I certainly wouldn't buy a luxury sedan and then complain it isn't off-road capable, I have to slow down for speed bumps, or I can't tow.

My wife has a Jeep. It gets poor mileage, is noisy inside, and doesn't handle well. She loves it because she can see over other cars, drive over things, doesn't have to slow down for intersections, driveway aprons, or pot holes, she doesn't care what the weather is like, and she thinks of the armor like a weapon. She'll never drive a car. The Jeep has its shortcomings, but she accepts that instead of lamenting it's not like some other car. Guess what... Your last whiz-bang super sedan also had some short comings, they just weren't salient enough to be an area of compliant.

    Find the right match.
