Chico state, personally dont like UC's cause of the teaching... anyway we still had to get into groups of 2 and we were making a come along until covid hit and ended it.
Probably 8-10 stations with provisions for gun or stick. Still hoping to finish it next semester. Only got to finish these:

yeah when I took that weekend course, they guy said the same thing - stick welding takes more time to get good at but (in his opinion) it gives you a better foundation for all forms of welding going forward once you do.

I look at it the same way I was taught photography, digital was already the way of the world but we started out with film regardless the first couple years in school. Dark room and film processing, learning exposures without relying on the camera to do it for you, etc. Sure once you get out in the world you're going to take advantage of all the new tech, because that's the way the industry works now. But knowing how it works gives you an advantage.

I also think it helps weed out the people in the beginning who aren't serious/disciplined enough to follow through.

All that said, when I finally get a welder it'll be a gun lol. Just because I want to be able to work on small truck projects and the like...stick welding on those seems like it would be...difficult.

Youre definitely right. But the way I want to do it, it’s going to be an initial ~6k. Idk I’m still chewing on it

    Perfect comparison with the photography.

Don’t get caught up in the idea you need some $1000+ machine to make nice welds. I have a $400 120v that runs .035 mig wire just fine. Plug that bitch into an extension cord and run it.

I look forward to seeing it when you do decide to go through with it. Should be really cool and interesting.

Thanks bud. I’ll keep you posted. You’re still #1 on the list for those headers

Still hoping to get them as you know. After that I might actually be in a hard spot trying to get my truck smogged. But that might mean small pulley and injectors/ meth kit. Not sure which will come first.

I was actually going to dm you over those as it had been a while. Glad it came up here, less formal and "buisness"

Sorry, you have to deal with that. I’m thankful everyday I don’t have to deal with emissions or vehicle inspections.

I know I saw a thread around here talking about CARB stickers for headers somewhere. Idk search it

Yeah I can probable contact someone, its been a month since I had the 20+ tabs about this open but I know the numbers which is 50% of the battle. Problem is I would need the original parts list page as the overall part number isnt on the headers. But I'll find someone.

It's disappointing that we stuck to the initial subject for so long.

    I've lost my touch
