Mine came out looking like this. Was a blast fishing around all in the seals to find all the pieces

I went with the option to have ECGS install this bushing for me when I got my new gears through them recently because I have a 3" lift. Peace of mind makes it worth it.

I thought the same. That flange does not take much load, even when the rollers are getting pretty bashed up. That flange should see no thrust load except when being pressed in or out.

Also, why another thread to say the same thing about 20 other threads already have? It's like a contest here to see if everyone can make their own thread about something common.

If you change the bearing before it's completely destroyed, it comes out relatively easily.

2" spacer up front and 1.5" AAL and immediately got a vibration. Just did the ECGS bushing a couple weeks ago. OE Needle bearing was pristine and showed no signs of wear or issues. Installed the bushing and no more vibration what so ever.

I've replaced over a dozen needle bearings on Tacomas. The only time I've seen one like OP was the first one I did, on my personal truck. And it was due to the ecgs removal tool being too large by just a mm. Shaved down the ends and it fits like butter now.

How easy should the ECGS bushing go into the housing? I did mine a few weeks ago. Took quite a bit of time to get the removal tool in place and got the needle bearing out. Bushing went in nice until it was about half way and it sure took a lot of effort to press in the rest of the way. To the point the end of the tool started to mushroom pretty bad. Thankfully I had an old piece of steel pipe I put over the handle. Not the worst job in the world but not as easy as YouTube made it out to be LOL. Happy my vibration is gone though.

Starting it straight is crucial. For me I use the same amount of force going in throughout the process. I will say it takes a lot of strikes with the 3lb hammer. I just keep tapping until their install tool bottoms out. My install tool also mushroomed slightly. Still works great.

Toss it in the freezer for a few hours or better yet, overnight. Take it out only when you're ready to pop it in. The cold should shrink it up just enough to make it slip right in. We do it at work all the time for bearings and bushings with tight tolerances.
Like Superdave said, make sure it's dead straight before you start hammering.

I have a shop to replace the bushing but as I was ordering the part I wonder if I need to get a new axle seal? Anyone know if it’s necessary?

It's good practice to replace it while it's easy and there is much more risk that it will be damaged while replacing the bearing/bushing so at the very least have one on hand. I had 3, fucked up the first one trying to put it in straight and the second went in nice. Now I have a spare. It's a $5 part (or like $12 for a genuine Toyota one, though I'm pretty sure the national oil seal brand one is the exact same as the Toyota one)

Yep I had a 2" front 1" rear spacer kit on until I got my Icons in and I already had the vibration, changed it when I installed the Icons and all good, simple install.
