That is unfortunate. A cheap cable can be used for the Customizations as long as the connection is stable. At least one person was lucky enough to successfully flash the ECU with a cheap cable.

So what I did is tape over the chime its self(white electrical) and some on the black cover (black electrical). Sounds have been reduced by approximately 60%. Yes you can still hear the beep/chime (not nearly as annoying) but you can also still hear the blinkers. IMO best of both combos bc i didnt want to remove due to flasher sounds

Thats how we "fixed" my kids toys when they were babies.... everything had some packing tape over the speaker... because apparently kids toys have 2 volumes, jet engine and freight train.

Perfect! Simple and effective, and if necessary, reversible - doing this tomorrow. Going to put one of those little felt pads for furniture legs under the tape for more sound suppression.

Yes! i also used a small peice of sound mat (dynamat) under the tape but beware of how much height it adds under the black cover (only around 1/4" of clearance)

There were a few that didn't get fixed very well with that method though. Those were usually fixed with pulling the batteries or burying it deep in the toy collection.

After years of driving a manual I often, out of habit, throw it in neutral and pull the parking break if say I forgot something in the house before leaving and just want to run in and out. The truck starts screaming at me after I leave the seat from outside the vehicle. I assume this noise is coming from the same box? I really only want that nose gone. The rest don't bother me much.

Yes. All chimes and tones come from that one speaker.

I'm guessing that is the beeper under the hood. Does it have push button start by chance? I'm not familiar with the sticks as mine is an automatic.

I had one box under the hood for when I walked away from the truck with my keys on my belt. Easy to find and pull.

All the rest of the annoying-*** beeping came from behind the speedo panel.

Both gone in my truck and I love it.

MTs are all standard key start only.

You can turn off the alarm answer back in the head unit, so for me, the hazards just flash and I can hear the door lock actuating most times. Although, it looks like the alarm horn is just behind the airbox.

Same here though. Pulling the speaker off the instrument panel has made things pretty great.

    ***DOOR CHIME easy FIX***

this is something that’s driven me Nutz for years n years ( ya like crank your tunes at the beach with the doors open to truly enjoy your sounds, and or any other time ya have it open for what not and Chime chime chime… grrr )

I fixed’em simple & easy, yet my door Ajar and dome light still works,, Blinkes too.

    1. Ya only have to do this to the Drivers side (no chime do to the passenger door being open)
    2. Driver’s side remove the black pillow button/sensor from AC door or where ever it is on your 4 door. ( 10mm socket ).
    4. Unclip the electrical fastener (easy squeeze- just don’t let wire fall back in the door)
    5. Remove Rubber Boot off sensor
    6. Cover all shiny metal on the button/sensor with good old Electrical Tape
(the key is to keep it from Grounding to the Door it’s self; you’ll find later on when ya put it all back together if ya used enough and ya might even need to put some around the bolt)
    7. Put the Rubber boot back on
    8. Plug Sensor back in
    9. Reattach sensor to door: Your Done
( this is where you’ll find out if ya used enough tape, might take a couple add a little more, add an O’ring or rubber washer… I’m sure you could even use a paint on a rubber silicone)

Congrats, You did, it is & was that easy: no breaking your back, ripping about the dash, removing door panels

No more Chime, yet your door ajar light will still display and function, your dome light will turn on and off, and yes. You’ll even still have and hear all your other alerts/alarms:: turning on the ignition beeps as it goes through its check list, turn signals, hazard light, etc etc

Now just kick back and enjoy the Peace.

I found out [as an unintended consequence] while my Arctic Start ARX4900S was being installed that if you disconnect the door sensor, the remote start won't work. I was not happy. They had to plug it in back in. I guess the speaker is coming out at some point in the near future.

Neither will an aftermarket remote start.

I don't understand how it can detect the door as open with dash display and dome lights but not do the door ding while the car is running. Nonetheless it totally works on 3rd Gen with key fob! The only bummer is the door beep will still persist if you shut off the engine after you have opened the door

EDIT: I realized this does not actually work on the 3rd gen. The door beep still persists when in accessory mode. I guess the beep never previously occurred while the engine is running.

I tried using carista programmer, but all you can do is change the alarm frequency, not turn it off. But it was nice to turn off/on and modify other things permanently.
