What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

That gunmetal looks perfect. That's exactly what I want to do to mine. What kind of paint did you use?

It seems like most people having issues with the spherical bearings have ADS coilovers. Maybe it's just me or people with Kings etc don't post, but they seem to last longer with other manufactures.

 

It's just that those of us with ADS actually use our trucks.



I don't know if there is a difference in the parts they choose to use, or even the parts you get initially vs. what ADS sells after the fact (my "original" ADS lasted 25K miles, which is pretty good; the later sets lasted ~10K).

Really, I think no matter what color shocks you run, the first time you switch out the bearings, going to FK is a good call. At least, that's my hope based on the fact that I just went to FK, and that's what Tim @TMFF sells.

 

Pretty sure it was this color, Dark Machine Gray from Rust-Oleum. Scuffed the rims with a Scotch brite pad, then some gray primer, then a few coats of the Rust-Oleum.

 

They're all the same FK bearings.


Maybe people with Kings don't do enough maintenance and like destroying their rod ends.

 

Just got a new grill from taco vinyl 2016-19 TRD Pro style, updates the look of this old truck a little. Love the new look

 

I polished mine four times.
They looked great every time, before they started fracture cracking.
I finally bought new.

 

Those look good, man. I had a set of spray painted wheels in high school and swore I would never do it again. So much aircraft remover lol. I'm just going to hit them with some wheel cleaner and call it good.

Actually, I'll probably spray the center caps silver since they're all chipped but stopping there!

 

That's exactly what I'm saying though, seems like people using the same bearings have to change them out more with one manufacture. But like I said, could just be ADS folks mention it more.

I don't do a ton of off roading anymore, but get out fairly often, not really much other than graded forest roads and off road parks near hear. But last rebuild they were still in decent shape, could've gone a few thousand more. Had maybe 20ish.

 

I'm Not taking a dig at anyone, just an observation.

 

Which mis alignment should I select? King? I have ads shocks. Or does it even matter. I just need new spacers.

Any work, are yours centered now? If centered or you want them to be choose king, if offset pick icons.

 

What does that say about people who have Bilstein’s?

I better order through rock auto then. This just kinda just popped up, I was going to get the cs144 but this seems like a better option.

 

It is so hard to cut that stuff conservatively, it’s not very flexible, I had issues with it in the driver side footwell. Still beats the hell out of carpet

Repainted the rear flares the other day to match the glass up front, kinda
