If you are running the Morimotos you definitely have the superior headlight product. AlphaRex is not selling a superior projector, they are selling inferior products across the board, see below. If you want a headlight upgrade beyond you Morimotos, upgrade to the OEM LEDs covered here.

Sounds like you have the best option then with the Morimotos.

My alpharex review. I won't say where I got them yet cause I just emailed support and have not heard back yet. There was an issue right off the bat. The passenger DRL doesn't work when the headlights are in the on position. Also when you switch the light from on to the DRL position it does the little dance. Only other complaint is that there is a lot of lightly rejected light splash directed upwards. You can see what I mean on the pic with the garage door. When off and in the DRL positing these lights look amazing. Low beam output is decent. There is a clear beam straight ahead where it should be. But there is also wide beam that others have complained about. The high beam is ok not great, when parked 10 feet from the garage the right hi is a good 3 inches higher then the left and not adjustable.

Good lord, what an awful pattern! And the fact that you have an aiming problem that does not appear to be fixable via adjustment is inexcusable. Sadly, another typical Chinese aftermarket product.

Not to be a jerk, but for all those who decided to go AlphaRex over the XBs or OEM LEDs, you can’t really complain. There are lots of threads warning you how bad AlphaRex headlights are.

Honestly. Other then the DRL problem. Which they are sending another light ouf for me. I'm perfectly happy with them. Did a 4 hour night run last night. 2 hours of dark highway and 2 hours of trail. Didn't even need the high beams or my light bars. It Definitely passed the I can see in front of me just as well as the halogen bulbs test. I'll take the thousand dollar savings anyday.

What thousand dollar savings? You paid $800 to get visibility that is “just as well as the halogen bulbs”, using your own words.
For Black Friday you could have spent $200 more and gotten the XBs which are superior or you could have saved a few hundred and done a bi-xenon or bi-LED retrofit and gotten much better visibility.
You could have even saved $750 and just gotten the Hikari Ultras, which would be superior as well.
FYI, think the same headlights are available on EBay for $500, just with a different brand.

Only other option for me was the OEM. That's the look I wanted. I drive at night and can see where I'm going. Its a win for me. Have a nice night!

Are there any updated headlights that came out and people would recommend?

    Pretty much anything but these.

The best replacement assemblies are the OEM LED covered in post #3626 (recommended) or Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s covered in post #4548.

Just installed a set of these on my 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport. Like you, one of my DRL's doesn't turn on but instead of passenger side it is driver side. I wish I'd read more about them before buying. It's annoying to have one DRL. I've contacted their support team and I'm waiting to hear back. Did the other light they sent out fix your issue?

Seems that way so far. My first oops with this otherwise perfect truck. I’m bummed but hopeful. Got it from TacomaBeast so we’ll see how they handle the issue.

Actually. When they finally replied, it was the day after we got that 2nd stimulus check. I told them just to refund my money and got the OEM's. But I know 3 people locally that have the arex and still and love em. It's all about budget. But, having had both now i would have begged, borrowed and stole to pay the difference for the OEM's

    Things I wish I'd known 10 days ago. :)

Oh well. $800 mistake. I've made worse. Hopefully Tacoma Beast will handle it well and I won't be totally hosed. If they send me a working unit, I can live with it. If they refund my money and let me send them back, even better. If not, I'll eat the 800 loss and stop watching youtube videos (where Alpharex is all the rage) and start reading more TacomaWorld. Lesson learned.

Mine were from tacoma beast also. Other than the delayed response, which they did post a warning of on their website, it was a very easy return process.

Have the alpha Rex HL on my 2020. Way better than the non led oem obviously. They are bright as hell imho. I have no issues seeing with them and I drive back roads to work. A deer hit the side of my truck a month ago w it’s head going right into the HL and the casing held up wo a crack. Just a smudge where impact was made and I wiped it off. The side of my truck didn’t fair so well. Definitely like the look of them. They catch the eye and after having an 04 first gen my whole life and then getting this it should get noticed.
