New 2021 Tacoma should have 2 keys with lock remotes?

That’s odd. Did they put a padlock on the spare?

 

At least the customer is aware of the situation. I’m sure whoever this belongs to didn’t start a thread asking about how many keys they should’ve gotten.

Yeah it does not apply to every one, just some apparently. Some have gotten 2 remotes and a valet, I only got two remotes. Like I said before, I would’ve been happy with 1 remote and 1 valet key.

 

This is interesting. Now, suppose I want to go to my dealer and buy a 3rd RKE key (paying $250 or whatever). Does the shortage mean that dealers are unable to supply extra keys?

I got identical 2 remote keys for my 2016 SR

 

And watch they’re missing their lock box key for dealership spare keys. Lol

 

When I got my truck a couple of weeks ago they only gave me one key. That message wasn't attached to it but the sales guy told me Toyota would be mailing me a second key. He didn't even give me a regular non electronic key. Now you make me want to scavenge the glove box to see if it's hiding in there.

 

Interesting my 2018 SR had two literally keys from 1987. No remote no nothing

had to walk to door insert key to open

old skool keys . Heck pass door didn’t even have a hole to unlock door

 

Seems like Toyota is really skimping on spare car keys now. Maybe it has to do with the chip shortage going on with electronics.

I am glad I got rid of my SR snd joined the modern world in my 21 OR premium, leave remote in pocket , smart key, never turn a key inside or at door

 

That's the whole point. If the tag is removed, then the customer isn't aware of any "situation."

I got 2 remotes and the tailgate key when I got my truck last month. When I commented that I was happy to get the 2 remotes right away, the sales guy said that some of their Tacomas were coming with 2 remotes and others only 1. Didn’t know what determined it though. Maybe manufacturing plant?

 

This is what my dealer told me. They said they'd be sending one in the mail. Haven't seen anything yet lol
