No dome light when set to DOOR

I just bought a brand new straight from the factory 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road, and when I put the dome light to the door setting and open any of the doors the light doesn’t turn on. Even when I turn it to the on position, no light. Should I take it back to the dealership and have them fix it? Am I missing a little trick to turn it on? I am brand new to Tacomas so maybe I’m just missing something

No electrical work done ? If none then warranty

 

Nope, just drove it off the lot today. I’ll call the dealership tomorrow then.

If it’s like the 18’s, the map light switch has to be set to door as well.

 

Maybe double check the fuse?

That's right. The rear dome light switch is not independent. The master switch is actually on the front overhead console. If you set the front switch to "door," then you can turn the rear light on independently.

I really tried my best to hold off major mods until I really need it . Don’t know for how much longer

 

If I recall correctly, the map and dome were independent on my 2nd gen. I think I had my dome set to door and would only turn on the maps when I needed them.
