Even my 2005 Pilot still doesn't need exhaust work.

Slight correction on that, I guess. A tab on the heat shield broke a year ago so a stainless steel strap was wrapped around it to stop it from rattling.

My buddy towed my first car home (with his AMC Ambassador), I got out and shut the door -- piles of rust appeared in the driveway. Got it running and discovered it had no muffler. The pattern was set -- I didn't buy anything quiet for the next 15 years... Yeah, I know all about exhaust work... :annoyed:
Note: I live in the salt belt, envy you fair weather state guys.

I don’t know how many vehicles I’ve had, got to be around 20. Most were worn out when I bought them.

True, but in this case it's because I'm buying a house.

Guy I went to school with had a Fiat X1/9 (like a Fiero, even less reliable). Although fairly new it was a father & son project car. He could hardly drive it more than 2-3 days out of a month -- it was always broken, he wasn't rough on it even, it just fell apart as fast as they could fix it. They would tow it home with the family 1966 Chrysler Newport wagon, 440 powered! The Fiat looked sharp though -- sitting there in the driveway, again. :deadhorse:

I usually buy them for the second hundred thousand, occasionally the third. (I'm cheap)
The Tacoma only had 12,000 when I got it -- along with the first payment book I have ever had for a vehicle.

That will keep you broke too, especially if there is a lady involved -- "...we could just get a new..." :annoyed:

It was a good (cheap) test car to decide if I was a car-fixer-upper kind of guy.

    I am not.

It was fun to cruise around the neighborhood in, though. Got a lot of looks.

A neighbor had one of those (I coveted it). He had the hardtop for winter and it had perfectly round quarter windows like a porthole. Odd

That reminds me one time my friend decided he wanted to learn to weld and he wanted a louder exhaust for his f150 so he bought a cheap HF welder and cheap cat back exhaust and away he went to chopping and "welding". His first ever welds were upside down and they looked about like that lol. He came up from under the truck and said "there, I don't think I left too many holes" lol.
