I bought one of those myself and I agree on it being a bit more than I wanted to pay. I’m mildly tempted to sell just a DRL grille lights T tap myself but I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes on this. I like r4t a lot and MESO mentioned he had a hand in designing this.

It would be cool if the tap were offered ala carte for less since eBay grille lights are cheap and easy.

Our plan for OEM LED conversion harness includes this tap for DRL and Park to feed grille lights, v5 turns, etc

You are correct. I designed the harness, and facilitated the production through my factory. I don’t sell them, just made it for a friend(R4T).
To Some people $49 is a lot. I’m not here to justify the price but keep in mind there a 6 connectors(2 factory ones), diodes, loom, assembly etc. Sure it could be made cheaper on a DIY/low QTY Level. But when you start scaling...time is money. For a full PnP kit(no tapping or splicing) it’s worth it to some.

I think the R4T DRL grille lights harness 8 connectors, right? The DRL tap is 3 and the grille light feeder is 5.

I am a little embarrassed that I’ve spent more on grille lights (one $50 harness, two sets of lights, first amber then smoked amber) than I paid for my crappy knockoff grille. But I think that mostly means I need to get a nicer grille someday

The harness I really want for grille lights would do reverse sequential turns as well as DRL and parking lights (dimmed, vs full strength w DRL).

It’s rather fun to obsess about these trivial things.

So I am just getting started on this mod as well. I was wondering if anyone had attached it to the fog light. I see a lot of instructions on how to do it to the headlights or the DRL lights but I would like to be able to turn my fogs and raptor lights on or off independently

Thoughts?

 

If tied in parallel with the power or switch side of the fogs, you'd loose illumination when high beams are selected and only would be ON after parking lights are selected...

 

All these options are confusing me

Ultimately I would like to have the fog lights and the Raptor lights on the same circuit and act independently from all other lighting. If that is possible by using the current fog light knob or would I have to add a separate fog light switch and pull the Raptor lights from there?

 

What caribe is saying is you’d also need the Fog light anytime mod. Since from the factory, the ECU breaks power to the fog circuit when high beams are on.

He has a 3rd gen fog anytime thread.

 

Ahh, so if I install the Fog Light Anytime mod, I could wire the Raptor lights there and get what I am looking for?

EDIT: I guess after reading through your comments and whats on the thread, it really would be best to just tie the Raptor lights to the DRL as everyone else does allowing for fog lamps to do their job

 

Yes, though fog lighting isn’t designed to be used that way. I would recommend a read of the 3rd gen fog thread if you are willing.

The fog anytime mod options are not exactly trivial either.

There is a fog intercept near the center of the bottom of the grille behind the front bumper which is easy to see and access for a T harness, refer to the fog anytime thread for a diagram.
