My fan was making heavy contact on the shroud due to busted mounts. I fixed the motor mounts and trany mount but I am still getting contact, though not has bad. It doesn’t look like the shroud is broken nor out of place. What else should I be looking for?

When you say you "fixed" the broken motor mounts. What did you have done?

Did you check the frame where the mounts bolt to the frame. The frame is known to collapse where the motor mount bolts to the frame.

I can’t see any frame damage, but I didn’t tear into it. I had a shop install both oem motor mounts and transmission mount, they didn’t mention any frame damage. Every thing else seems to be intact.

I’m guessing the drivers side would be more likely to see the frame caving Bc of the engine torque?

I’m not the most mechanically inclined person, but I’m not afraid to dive in when I feel confident of the job. Anything specific I should check, wiggle, shake, wrench?

I’m guessing the engine is tilted? No fan wobble or breaks, shroud is sound, but the fan is obviously not centered. There is a few inch clearance at the top of shroud and less than 1/4” at 6 o’clock. I can feel where the fan begins making contact.

Have someone (you trust) powerbrake in drive (set the parking brake!) while you stand to the side(!) & watch the engine/fan. It shouldn't move more than 1/2 - 3/4 inch upward with the engine under power. If it moves more than that & you have all new mounts, the frame is most likely collapsed.

It's possible that the shop welded the new engine mounts too low.

Engine mounts are not aligned properly,is what your problem is,most likely because frame was not fixed correctly before the shop installed the mounts.

That was my thought as well. Something like a damaged or collapsed frame is a big deal and often someone will make a point about having to address the problem. I would ask a few more questions of the ones who replaced the mounts.

Upon further inspection, yep, my frame is crushed.

I sorta knew that was an issue from your first post. The mounts only bolt in one way to the frame and the engine. Hard to screw that up. If the fan is not aligned inside the shroud there is only one answer to that if the rubber isn't broken on the mount.

I do find it very odd that the shop that replaced the mounts didn't see it or neglected to bring it up. I would make it a point to stay away from them if at all possible.

Don't fret this can be fixed, they make gusset kits just for this issue.
