TRD Pro Suspension... issues

I have owned my Pro since August. The truck has about 7700 miles on it now and I’m starting to notice feeling kind of “beat up” after driving it. For having Fox Shocks it does not seem as composed over bumps as you would expect. It feels somewhat harsh over bumps, especially when turning. Is there any improvement possible?

 

Do you have any kind of load weight in the back of the truck? If you run the truck empty it will feel rough. It really rides smooth with about 120lbs load in the back 200lbs is cushy. Make sure your tires are 30lbs and below depending on how big they are. Harshness comes from tires usually and do not put E load tires on a small truck like this unless you plan on towing. I have a retrax tonneau cover and some cargo that is 120lbs total and the truck feels pretty smooth on highway. When I have my bed rack and Ikamper mini tent on the back it really feels smooth.

 

Well, I put E-rated on for extra insurance, don't want a poor line choice stranding me on a shelf road. Probably overkill, but I am OK with that. They do ride a bit harsher on the road, but I didn't notice much difference. I keep my RTT and rack on year-round, so I don't know what it would feel like empty. But, I think it rides fine, it is a truck.

 

What tire pressure is in your tires?

 

I run the factory recommended PSI.

 

And when the techs set the factory recommended tire pressures, after my services, my TRD DCLB rides harsh. I drop the pressure to show 30psi on the dash (I forgot what the psi is at each tire).

 

My OR on the stock suspension is HORRENDOUS. So unbelievably rough. I would kill for some TRD pro suspension lol.

 

Don't run recommend PSI.
Do a chalk test, and run the pressure, so the full tread width -just- contacts the road or surface area.
Adjust for load as necessary.

My tires are load range E.
When mounted/balanced, they were set to pressure stated on the side of the tire.
It's up to the end user to adjust that pressure as necessary.

 

Are those progressive shocks?

 

Somewhat disheartening the only fix is extra weight and lower tire pressure.

 

I don’t have a TRD Pro but I do have a fox suspension that is similar to the Pro and it feels fine.

 

I’ve got the pro suspension on my truck and it rides great. No extra weight added.

run my tires at 30-35 psi cold (falken at3w SL)

 

I have a 2020 Pro with about 6300 miles on it and it rides just fine.

 

I have a sport and the suspension is fine and just like any other truck I’ve owned.
1. Is this your first truck?
2. What do you expect it to ride like with e rated tires and leaf springs etc?
3. You want a more Cush ride a ridgline or ram with independent suspension OR you buy shocks and have them valved and adjusted to your liking

 

What? Why, it's to bad that for 2019, they made the OR suspension so crappy. My OR feels like a cadillac on the road and it's all stock. I guess pre 2019 OR's are better

Prepare for future disappointment with the Tacoma if this is disheartening.

 

actually, prepare for future disappointment with any truck, the Tacoma is actually one of the smoother riding trucks today. The Frontier pro$x rides like an 1800's buck board wagon with everything rattling.

 

Not wrong.

 

Get one with an automatic. It's not the shocks it's that manual transmission, having to shift all those gears all the time. That's what's beating you up.

I can't really find a comfortable seating position, that is also a comfortable clutching and shifting position on most vehicles.

 

The OR has one of the softest suspension options.
