I wondered if I had all the keys I needed, so I used each of them to open the tailgate and door, then lock the tailgate and door, now the door will not unlock automatically, nor will the truck start. Says ignition is on, but the dash shows "check brake system" and the "check ignition system" messages. What is going on, and how do I fix?

Also, just minutes before it wouldn't start I had called my dealer's parts department and discussed purchasing spare keys for the truck. Does Toyota have some type of security fail-safe system whereby if key codes and keys are discussed and a purchase is not made by the owner that a signal is sent to the truck to disable it for theft deterrent reasons? Sure seems odd that it would start twenty minutes ago, but now after using keys (that I have never used before) and after talking to the parts department that the truck wont start now.

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 minutes . It should reset the computer. Maybe this will help. Might be an engine immobilized thing.

When inside the truck hit the unlock and lock switch on the door.... see if that does anything

I had already disconnected the battery and left the circuit open for about twenty minutes. REconnected it and viola...it starts. That was weird. Sure like to know what happened though.

Okay, this one is over guys. Onward, through the fog. AND DAMN THE TORPEDOES!

    Organizing keys?
Did you happen to put the ignition key on a ring with another transponder key?
    Grip on key touching metal?

Unless I am mistaken, there is no placed to stick an "ignition" key into any ignition on the truck. I have a door/tailgate key, that is it. I push the start button, giddy-up, go.
