RSI is aware of the issue. They are working on new locks that should be available late this year. Beyond that, we don't have a lot of details.

 

Do you know if RSI will be sending out whatever their established solution is to those that have already purchased it prior to them updating the product? Will it be at cost to the customer?

 

Largely unknown at this point. If there is a cost, we believe it will be minimal.

I'm in the process of waiting for the drop rack to come in stock and planning out how to arrange things on the rack. 2 questions:

1 - What are the dimensions of the 2 rack sections?

2 - Does only one side drop or can both?

 

Quoting myself here...but I asked smartcap directly and learned that the drop rack only “drops” on one side. Still waiting on the dimensions of each platform.

 

Anyone have any info / long term review on the cap's durability? I love the look and it's #1 on my list once I get my truck, but the modularity (more moving parts, more things to fail, more things to take care of, etc) is a little concerning to me.

 

I think the longest you are going to find is about a year of ownership, and I haven’t seen any of those folks complaining.

I would purchase mine again tomorrow if I had to replace it.

 

New Product Announcement!

For all of the second gen Tacoma guys that have been asking us, the Adventure series caps for your trucks are almost here. We are now taking pre-order deposits for the Adventure series only, 5ft and 6ft beds, for the second gen trucks. The pre-order deposit is $100. This is fully refundable should you change your mind (up to the point of shipment) and the final balance will be collected approximately two weeks prior to shipment. The $100 will be applied towards the remaining balance.

Current estimate for these caps to start shipping out is late August to early September. The Sport series caps will likely be available towards the end of the year, possibly early next year. Details will be published once we have more information.

Does anybody have photos on the inside of their cap? Specifically where the bolt/clamp is? I tightened mine to 9ft/lb and it bent it. I already pulled back and luckily (except for one side) that I need to c clamp to return to it’s normal shape.

Anybody run the total tail stage 1 from meso with this rsi smart cap? My left light doesn't light up all the way.

 

Hello! I was just wondering if that is the Universal Prinsu Top Rack that is 5.5' L and 44" Width? I'm finally ready to buy the top rack for the RSi and want to make sure I buy the right Prinsu Top Rack for it!

 

Any update on your locks after a few months? Mine are really difficult to use and I’ve only had the cap for about a month. I’ll be trying your Tri-flow suggestion next.

 

If the tail light is LED then it’s probably like the stock LED tail lights and you need the three pin connector, not the two pin that came with the cap. Contact RSI and they will send the correct harness out.
