All i can comment on this 2020 is the first tacoma i've owned. So far after a year, and 8500 miles....no complaints

 

I screwed up and bought the first model year (because "it's a Toyota!") I even helped solve the issue with the howling lower control arms. I had too many issues for a Toyota. I had three previous Tacoma's including the one in my avatar. All phenomenal..

Guess I just lost faith in the brand but I prefer a smoother quieter ride anyway as time went on. I'd read some of those later mileage problems here on the forum. Some I never knew about.

This should be a sticky for those buying a 2016 or 2017

What the Hell? How many times is this video gonna get posted and... does anybody ever do their own research anymore and... when did a video from some guy count as research? He is one guy.
Hell, at least Amazon reviews you get many opinions instead of one.
And, why is he doing this video anyway? Oh wait, clicks and likes for ad money. Sheesh.

 

No complaints either for me, but what he said about lower control arm whistling, random vibration at random driving situations I encounter them all.
So far what I haven't really noticed is the AC not working properly in 100 plus degree weather. I had my fair share of 110 F plus days, and I'm okay with the amount of cooling.

 

lol, well, he is a Toyota dealership master technician and I would say he's probably dealt with more Tacomas than the average person

 

I have a 2016, late model, and have had nothing wrong other than a battery in 5.5 years.
Laugh when I hear first years had all these issues. Think that 2017 on was a different truck ? Different engine, tranny, parts ? Nope. Same truck dude.
Get the tsb's and it's a done deal. That simple.
I had the tranny flash, and a weatherstrip tsb only because I read it here and wanted it done.

 

My 2017 dclb has no problems. Got the transmission software update and I replaced the battery. That is it. Just got a 2021sr access cab as well. Shifting seems to be improved.

 

My 2019 is badass. Not a single issue.

 

Had my '18 TRD Sport for almost 3 years (24,000 miles) and have had no issues. '96 4x4 Tacoma 25 years and 414,000 trouble-free miles. No complaints from me.
Of course there's always those around who will trash anything, especially on Utube.

You should not have any lower control arm noise as they started putting plugs in them starting all the way back in 2017, it was a noise similar to blowing over an open bottle.

 

Lol @ thinking that a toyota dealer master technician knows what they are doing.

I'm not saying that none of them do, but I'll say my experience is 1 have outta 9 that I've delt with.

 

Bought my 2017 new in December of that year. I’ve not had a single problem. My truck shifts fine, is a pleasure to drive and is my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Then I don't know what the cause of it, I definitely still hear at 20 mph some whistling noise sometimes while accelerating

I had one problem not mentioned in the video but common to us long suffering 3rd Gen owners. Yes, the dreaded sun visor collapse. The pain was real. So devastating, especially on a three month road trip. One dealer stuck it back on and said, "fixed, nothing to see here". I thought about trading in for the upcoming Ford Danger. But, then another dealer's service writer said no problem, common problem and fixed it. Huh. Whatta I do now? Guess I have to keep this heaping pile of shit.
