    Hello 2nd Gen Forum,

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2014 TRD OR in great shape w/ 110k miles. Guy is asking $22k for the truck which matches up w/ KBB private party values. Seems kinda high, but it does match up w/ KBB, so I figured I'd ask the experts here.

I currently own a 2019 TRD OR. If I were to sell my current truck and purchase the 2014, I would be able to roll my residual value into the 2014 and eliminate my car payment entirely. I've looked over the 2014 for rust, damage, odd issues, etc. Truck looks like it's in great shape other than the mileage.

What are your thoughts on this purchase?

The mileage it's still a baby many many many owners are getting 200+k easy and still trucking.

I hate debt, so *if* it's the right truck in the right condition for you, I'd give it a go. Plus it's better looking. :D

Looks pretty good. I wouldn’t be considering it if it wasn’t a clean little rig.

I’ll agree with you that it’s better looking than the 3rd Gen, just barely haha. Plus is doesn’t have a minivan motor in it ;)

You are a wise man. Eliminating debt is one of the best thing you can do for many many reasons. If after you check out the 2014 and it looks good just do it.

Carvana quote came in at $23k, so it looks like I’m probably going to do it.

Anything else I should look out for with the 2014 MY? I checked for rust, leaks, damage to the frame, etc. Seems pretty clean...

Sounds like a pretty great deal and you get to eliminate some debt. Plus you can put your normal payments towards modding and making it whatever you need the truck for

I paid $22k for my 2013 TRD Sport DCLB last year. Best priced one I could find and bought it private party. 105k miles when I bought it. Sounds very similar to the truck you’re looking at! I’ve had no regrets but I was also coming from a 1st gen.

Assuming avg or better than avg condition and options... around here that would be a KILLER price. Every around here sells for way over KBB.

I paid 23k out the door for a 2012 DCLB with 110k miles. I should’ve looked over the truck a bit more before buying (had to do brake pads and new front shocks) but it was worth it compared to what some other locals were asking for their 2nd gens

Secondary Air Pump filter is the only potential problem I can think of beyond what you've looked at but easily addressed

I believe Toyota fixed the problem by 2014, by running the pump after shutoff too (as opposed to just startup).
Worst case you can get a little uni filter to replace the foam one, and never worry about it degrading.

my 2012 has 90k and I expect to have it for another 10+ years.

I pulled mine out and blocked the exhaust outs, it cost me 10 bucks in parts and took me about 2hrs, but it was pretty easy

I have a 2014 TRD OR with 111,000 miles on it. It's just getting broken in and I've had no problems with it. It was a good year.
You'd better jump on it before someone else does.

Closed the deal with the guy, so it’s mine now. Looking forward to being part of the 2nd Gen forum now. I’ll post some pics for you guys once I get it home.

    Thanks for the help gents!

I have a 2014 with 106K, no problems. Like the post above stated, check the SAI filter if you happen to have a tool set handy. Price seems fair considering Tacoma's are going for a lot in the PNW these days. Good luck!
