We use a conversion factor that gets it very close to vehicle speed (assuming stock configuration)

Ahh so in your software I would see mph. That does make it easier. I cut my teeth with hptuners using oss on other applications so when I got into tuning this Tacoma I didn't have a learning curve.

    Unsure what OSS is...
You enter a value based on Acceleration %

    OSS output shaft speed
This is what most vehicles use for a shift schedule and is what D3 software has in it.
Tps% vs oss for a given shift
Stock Tacoma is 1295 oss for 100% throttle 1-2 up shift. I set ect off at 1400 and ect on to 1500.
Be glad if the ov software has a conversion factor built in so you don't have to learn oss.
Mooseditty17 Have you tuned a catless truck yet? Curious to see what you have found on on the exhaust can angles with the reduced back pressure.
What about your ignition timing up high at wot?
I see 87 octane runs 6-8 degree less at wot while keeping a decent KCLV.

Mat has got the 87 dialed in quite well. I haven't improved it yet. Done quite a bit of fiddling with base intake timing and had good luck. Gotten nowhere with exhaust. All on catted trucks.

I have been using hptuners for 6 years on GM and ford application.
I am using D3 Performance on this Tacoma and have been tuning it myself for 6 months or so. They have their tune files locked so I had to build my tunes from a stock read.
I have spent countless hours dataloging everything from kclv, knock feedback, cam angles, trans stuff, any and everything I could think of.
Also have a Draggy and have made 100s of passes on their tunes then mine.
    Lots of comparing.
I wish I had a ov tuned truck local to me to see how it runs.
I have a 2016 access cab I will be tuning next week for a customer. I can't wait to see what he thinks.
As far as the exhaust cam angles go yes they are very picky with a little going a long way. I have been trying to get mine dialed in with a y pipe I built.
I can say that with my truck being a 2020 and having that newest flash from the factory my 87 tune is not that much more power than stock (.2 tenths and .5mph in the 1/8)and is it for tat with the D3 87 file.
Now the trans I can make shift better throughout but power wise is not great.
93 octane is another story. I have seen .5 - .6 tenths and 3-4 mph in the 1/8.
Can you datalog with the ov software?

Yes. You can log with OV. I also use OBD Fusion. Sounds like one of these weekends I'm gonna have to pick your brain if ya let me. I'm ALWAYS looking to learn more!

There are a few tuners out there now that are making some pretty nice strides towards the "Perfect" tune. I've tried KDMAX and Mooseditty's daily driver, and for my taste and driving habits daily driver is it. Not knocking any other tunes and other's driving habits, but you should give strong consideration to AJ's latest tune. My taco is a truck - I want power, good acceleration, smooth and consistent shifting only when needed, and nice gas mileage. The man knows how a taco should behave.

How does your truck downshift from a higher speed?
Such as 60mph then go wot. Does it go right to 2nd gear or does it go to 3rd for a second then go to 2nd gear.
I have been working with this for a while and am curious if the ov software has this issue as well.

Usually if I stomp on it, it goes straight to the right gear. It depends how closely your shift points align. Gotta make sure it has a clear choice.

when replicating edits on tables for the newer model years, I don't know if anyone's noticed but the axis values for some tables begin to vary with the newer MY's. Mostly torque converter tables, not too many others that i can remember off the top of my head.

was curious if anyone can confirm things being g2g if you change those axis values to match those of the tables you're emulating from the earlier model years. I would think there would be no problems, after all you're staying within the set range limits, just changing the intervals with which the ecu extrapolates the data...if anything bringing the data points closer together

i know it worked well with my linear throttle mod when i transferred from MT to AT just for the sake of consistency and got feedback from AT testers way back in october/november

I am using different software from y'all but I know my 2020 had different settings from a 2017 and also when I tried to use a tune that modified the older settings on my 2020 it had problems shifting. I had to build a trans tune for mine from scratch.

    Thanks for the feedback. Interesting.

@Mooseditty17 any wisdom to lend? Have you seen issues with anything I'd referenced, or anything like what @Tech708CC just mentioned?

He did say he's using different software however...

The theory I was working off of was that changing axis values for the commonly edited tables (which seem "safe") doesn't actually endanger the truck (I'm assuming) because you're just providing new data points for the ecu extrapolate from on the axis (for example the top row of the torque converter tables being accelerator angle [if wondering what I'm meaning, take a look at 04B04 or 04A61 and then compare to 04B33 or 04B81, for say...Torque Converter Locking 4th Gear S1...or for Locking 4th Gear 2, etc], or the top row of AATRA being requested torque [for the MT, it goes up in nice uniform increments of 25, not so for the AT])...
