Hope your streak continues too! Well some rural interstates dont have cell coverage so you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yeah, with real time direct readout TPMS, I haven't had a tire that just flat out blown out or deflated on me instantly. Direct readout TPMS can tell me quickly that a tire is off by 3 PSI, and then I know something is up and upon inspection it's most likely a nail, bolt, etc. I get it patched and life is good.
Neglecting an under inflated tire is probably the major cause of flat tires.
I put one of those dust cap style TPMS sensors in my Miata, and they work great. However, I'd only drive the Miata near home. If I have to drive more than 500 miles far I'd take the Tacoma for having a spare tire.

Yes the Donut tire is a benefit to me...I don't carry heavy loads maybe once or twice a year. I'm okay with those odds. Those are things people have to consider before they buy the Ridgeline. In my case, I'd rather have the trunk. Tires-easy don't blow any way they usually have slow leaks from screws and nails. And each tire reads out individually on the RL and it's accurate

Is it a doughnut or is it a full size spare? If it's just a doughnut, it's no good to you if you're carrying a load anyways.

The entire point of having a spare tire is in case of emergency. Having a donut on a truck is pointless. Might as well just have a can of slime and hope for the best. Even if you don't haul or tow often, when you do that is when you are more likely to have to use the spare as that's when you are putting more stress on your tires. If your backup plan cannot be used when you are using your vehicle whithin specs and when it's most likely something could go wrong then it's not a very good backup plan.

Just test drove a 2021 Ridgeline Black Edition yesterday. Very impressed. All the styling issues with prior models have been fixed IMO. Great looking little truck, though I admit not as sporty in a recreational way as the Tacoma. But neither are the other midsize trucks.

This thing drives smooth as silk. Very spirited acceleration in Sport mode. Suspension is excellent on the road.

The interior is quite a bit more refined that the Taco. The Taco seems like more of a utilitarian vehicle, which is OK if that’s what you want. I’d feel bad about getting mud in the RL to be honest.

Back to the OP, there is no way the current Taco transmission competes with the Ridgeline 9-speed for smoothness. Or suspension. If ride quality on the road is important at all, you will be disappointed in the Tacoma big time.

Off-road and hauling are a different story, thought the RL has a 1500-lbs bed capacity, so no slouch in that category.

Anyway you have to decide what’s important to you—rowing gears and going up gnarly hills, or driving a truck with Pilot-level refinement.

    You mean like this?

    https://www.americantrucks.com/f150...VdR-tBh00hwAyEAQYBSABEgKx7vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

That’s too simple a solution. And too cheap. Can’t possibly work.

I have never heard of anyone basing their vehicle decision on the spare tire, but I guess there are always those people.

Read an interesting article the other day. Apparently, most truck manufacturers are exploring electric and hybrid options. However, Honda has indicated that the next Ridgeline will be powered by a potent mixture of estrogen and wine coolers. Pre-release reviews from some of the country’s most popular sororities are very promising.

Be hard pressed to find a sorority girl in a ridgeline. Ridgeline owners ALL look like Rosie o donnell - regardless of if they are male or female

A female colleague of mine wants to get a truck and the Tacoma/Ridgeline discussion came up. She likes the looks of the Tacoma--and wants the Tacoma--but she's all of 4'11" and 100 lbs and, for her intended uses (commuter, throwing a kayak in the back etc), I'm advising she go Ridgeline. Maybe even Ford Maverick.

Terrible. But kinda true. Ridgeline more popular with the 65-plus crowd too, for good reason.

The Tacoma is a lead spring body on frame solid rear axle pick em up truck. And it drives like it.

Realistically I should have gotten a ridge line for my use. But also worth noting - $$$$. They’re damn expensive! And back when I was looking they had the base trim still, the base was more than my TRD OR Tacoma. I didn’t want a sunroof so I had a choice of like the base and one up from the base ridge and they were still about 5k more than the Tacoma OR let alone the SR (which I should have gotten).

He said he's considering a manual so I'm not sure why either of you are thinking he wants an AT.

hmmmm Rosie O'donnell, could it be?, you have States Evidence #1, low riding car, made by honda with an open rear to simulate a real truck:

Then you have states evidence #2, which is how Honda straight out Ripped off the incredible Chevrolet EL Camino

So, as you follow mere here, here is states evidence #3. We all know the type that drives and rides in El Caminos is of a style of classy individual and who we know and admire these days:

So we have now determined the type that we are talking about here and the question is does ROSIE fit the model.

Well, let me introduce states evidence #4:

So, we in fact see that all the evidence points to the Rosie O type riding in

I just built a Black Edition online for 44K and did not come close to getting all the "fixins". You are paying a premium for the little H on the grille regardless of the model.

I apologize. I should have been more clear. The article stated they were softball & rugby sororities.
