@kmorgan3 could set you up with a no vampire tap to them thin gauge wires, same for the dash illumination tap...

 

That would be too easy. Is he listed in the BST thread?

 

I thought the point of the mod was to light the LED with the gear shifter — which is on nearly all of the time (so keyed power). But yeah if you wanted it attached to the dash illumination circuit I could make something for you. I think you have a couple of my harnesses already (I remember sending a few to Canada back around the holidays).

Edit: Oh you’re talking about the transponder flash. Yeah I can make that. It’s not the cheapest connector to source but it’s an easy harness to make.

 

The wire harness I build has 2x inputs. The 1st input is to illuminate the LED while the truck is on. The 2nd input is to be connected to the flashing security LED circuit in the dash so the shift knob flashes while the truck is off.

 

Gotcha. Yeah you could accomplish the security LED with the HVAC connector. If you wanted the second LED to only illuminate with the dash light circuit you could also do that with the HVAC control. However I’m not sure there’s a keyed power source on that connector. Caribe could figure that out. If you want me to build a test unit just send a PM. It’s kind of a pain to get the mating parts for that harness but we could do it in a bulk order for cheaper.

 

Need a keyed 12V that can reliable handle an LED. 6, 7, 3, and 9 are dash illumination (depending on manual or automatic A/C).

 

Gotcha. Yeah it’ll work but just need two SKUs to handle manual and auto climate control

I wired this up today with my knob... so drilling, soldering, etc.... and no light

In looking at the instructions, the directions to connect to the wire harness don't match the picture. I have a 2021 Pro and am wiring to the USB charger in center console.

It say reds goes to white/black (in truck), black goes to yellow (in truck).

but in picture... the black wire is going to the white/black and the red is going to the yellow.

Maybe i just have power backwards?

Since you can't test with a 12v to the LED, I have no idea if my connections to the LED via my soldering are any good either?.

We just need to find a 12v circuit to tap into.

What about ice blue and red? Would be neat to have "stock" color for normal driving, then when ECT is turned on the LED goes red.

 

Your not wrong. I have the RGB LED in my shifter and I think it is one of my best electronic mods. Unfortunately I have only been able to find Ice Blue in a clear lens. If someone can find a combo LED with ICE Blue then I would build it for them.

 

Not exactly sure how the setup is or I'd already be googling.

 

Ah, you're just going for a single-bulb setup.
