Who would have thought we'd be able to make money selling trucks that were bought new.
    Crazy times.

Yea, I've never had an issue with mine. I wouldn't know what I'd replace it with, but still....it's tempting

I can see a new thread coming ---- 2017 The Best 3Gen Year . 4 or 5 months ago they offered me over 35K and is tempting but I'm keeping her because she's a 17 .

This is the first time hearing about the 17's being the year with the least issues. I held off on getting the truck in 2016, seeing as how it was the first model year. But I thought most of the kinks get worked out with each year thereafter.

Wish I didn’t like this truck so much, pretty tempting offers out there currently! 37k for my 2018 OR premium with 13k miles.

Fking crazy town. I looked for weeks and weeks and weeks for what I wanted and snagged it as soon as it arrived on the lot. Took it
for a test drive with 6 miles on it and bought it... got all of 585 miles on it now. I still look and the prices have continually gone up
week after week by hundreds of dollars and in some instances thousands.

Neighbor dude said the dealer called him asked to buy his 2016.

All indicators point to a BOOM in the economy in second and third quarter and beyond - housing prices around me are going crazy
too... Intel announced a 20-billion-dollar investment near me that will result in 3,500 high-tech jobs, another 3,500 support jobs,
and an estimated 18,000 trickle-down job growth in the area. I suspect my $250k house will sell for $500k in another 2-3 years at
this rate. Heck it's already worth $325k after 3.5 years. Might have to cash-out and move to Tahiti or something and live the high life.

People are buying... Carvana paid me over MSRP for my 2yr old truck in late 2020 and it sold pretty quick on their site for $1500 over the original MSRP. Person could have gotten in line at a dealer to pay MSRP and had a 2yr newer truck. Seems there's a huge premium that people will pay to avoid the dealers...?

its not just tacomas.. it seems they are high on all their pricing.. is it just to avoid the dealer? it seems crazy to me. the pictures are pretty crappy of the damage they list (scratches or dings). i don't know, i like to see in person, touch and drive something before i purchase..

Yes I don’t quite understand it. Maybe paying a bit of a premium to build inventory but that seems crazy too. I did a quick online scan of local dealers last night here in Vegas and each has 1-5 TRD OR’s in stock. Not many.

it reminds me of getting my 2017 following the delivery truck into the lot with my soon to be truck on top and telling the sales guy I think I want that one. Vegas is an island in the desert and it can be a challenge to find things that are popular ( or, go to LA or Phoenix etc. ).

Still, those units in stock last night ranged from $38k to $42 “sale” prices so how carvana and others can turn a solid buck by giving me $36K in my 22K mile unit is beyond me. Maybe $2K margin is enough for them.

    If I disliked this truck...............

I don’t think it’s just the 2017, but, based on some of the comments here, what might be so special about the 2017’s?

Oh for sure, but the next one will more of a 'correction' than a full blown out disaster like we saw in 2008-2009-2010.
Reason being a large part of that problem had to do with over-valued homes that were over-valued on the books.... the
amount borrowed was more than it was worth. In todays market a house may be overvalued but it would sure sell for
what the balance is. And in a lot of cases back then the 'property' didn't even exist. I saw it. I ran data on it. I worked on
systems that were part of the solution.

Can't say it will never happen again, but I highly doubt we would live to see it.

We’ve just had minimal problems with them. All the new-truck kinks were worked out from the 16s and it’s the last year before TSS
