Does anybody else have rust starting in these locations on there frame?
I only have 9000 miles on truck, live in California but I do off-road a lot.

Not sure that's rust. A lot of the welds have a goldish color peeking out.

Use Fluid Film on your frame. There are a couple threads on the stuff.

Ok cool. Yes i do notice it has a gold color to it so not sure if it’s rust. Should I just spray paint it?

    Thanks guys

My trucks got 4000mi in the snowbelt and I wish my frame looked that good...

If you like it clean, don't spray it with any rust preventatives, just hit it with a black rattle can.
If you want to prevent rust, use one of the products listed above, but also realize that your frame will look like crap forever as dust and dirt cling to it.

^This right here was addressed by an experienced welder on a previous thread. The jist was certain welding process turn the weld this color which is usually mistaken for rust which it is not. Toyota is one company that uses this process. Just read previous threads on protecting your frame and underbody and you should be fine. I live in the rust belt and go the fluid film route with great success. Good luck

Spray it with some rust reformer and then spray again with enamel. After that do a layer with fluid film. Will never be a problem again for you.

That's the welds. If you're not in a rust belt state I would not worry much unless you drive on the beach.

Remove any loose paint with a wire brush spray it with some rust-oleum rust reformer then some black paint if you like. The rust reformer will leave a matte black like finish itself. I used to do that to the steel rock rails on my old Jeep but I'd use bed liner in place of paint on them.

Mine said the same thing. However, the VIN indicated CRC was applied at the factory so all they did was inspect it and add body plugs.

The good news is that they've not seen any trucks even close to needing a frame replacement in a long time. They said around 2008 and 2009 they were writing checks for trucks and they would be taken to be crushed.

My dad had the frame treatment done at the dealership under recall on his 2011. He said they were messy and it dripped out but no rust problem so far.

I'm sure they're out there still, especially with Kate 1st gens and early 2nd gens. I have yet to hear of any late 2nd gens or 3rd gens being even close to needing replacing. But, just in case, I plan to continue using Woolwax.
