TRD Mods for 2011

Newbie here doing some searches on the TW forum for just a few bolt on mods for my Taco. I really just want some additional power having come out of Ram 1500 with the 350 HEMI. I don't want mods that will void my warranty so I am looking at TRD bolt on stuff like a super charger, CAI and cat back exhaust. Toyota advertises all of them, but I am getting conflicting information from different sources. I called TRD today and they said the 4.0 liter 5 speed AT Tacos do have available TRD super chargers and cat back exhaust, but no CAI. Local dealership said no on the CAI too.

I've heard that without CAI, the super charger doesn't provide as much HP. Also read that the CAI isn't available due to not being legal for CA emissions and something about reflashing the ECU.

Can anybody here provide definitive information on any of the above? Would it be wise to add the supercharger now, just drop in a high flow air filter (since i've read the stock intake is cold air anyhow) and throw on the cat back exhaust? Would that set-up give me the 305 HP they advertise?

Yep, my dealership told me the same thing about the CAI not being available for my 2011 as well...

 

If it is any consolation, the factory intake for the V6 is a cold-air intake.

 

The trd cai thing is odd. So the 4.0 v6 on 2011 different from 05-10? If no different wouldn't the cai in work for 2011's?

I'm new to the board but have the same questions as you. I too have a 2011 4.0 and am looking at the SC, CAI, Cat back exhaust. From what I've read and discussed with dealer, the TRD CAI from a 2010 would likely fit, however, it's not for street use as defined by Toyota and thus I believe would unacceptablly put at risk any existing factory warranty. I know it has to be proven the part (CAI) caused the problem, but an argument with the dealer would be way more hassle than the insignificant gain from having the CAI. My opinion on CAI is based soley on preserving all my factory warranty without any question.
The SC and Cat back exhaust on the other hand will not risk factory warranty. In fact, Toyota says if they install the SC ($850 install) the power train warranty will remain in tact, as extended if applicable.
There is nother option. We could add headers to the CAT back, with the SC. These three bolt-on parts, emphasis added, could see as much as 320 HP at the fly wheel , maybe more, and all under warranty.
My best guess on total dollars is in the range of $5365 for the SC dealer installed, $500 roughly for the CAT back (self installed), and maybe $800 on the low side for dealer installed headers assuming true bolt on, no cutting or bending. I have to say that's a lot of coin, but my thought is installation in 2 stages: CAT back first than the SC. That's where I stop.
Sorry this post was kinda long, but you asked a question I've thought much about as well.

This model is street legal and passes 50 state emissions, so don't worry about it. Has the carbon filter.
