Those of you who are running the Ruthenium/dilithium crystal sparkplugs, assuming you've put some mileage on them, what are your thoughts?

As whizbang as initially reviewed? Worse/equal/better than iridium? Would you buy them again? Etc.

Tagging @BillDaCat8 and @12TRDTacoma because you two are the only ones that I can think of off the top of my head who run them. Obviously anyone else who does please chime in.

Thank you @mightytacoman I followed most of your diy walkthrough. Really good help and I was able to document a little on my phone so I could help fill in some gaps like how the the actuators are held in and how you're able to remove. Looking at the pictures helped but also stirred up some anxiety lol. After having everything in hand, made more sense! Which transgo kit? Looking forward to the up date

@Lucario Runner if John is still making them and up for trying. I'm still in. Asked about some oval piping that'll route under the pan.

@Biscuits pml covers. +2 quarts extra pan. www.yourcovers.com

I've replaced one set of them so far. They are more resilient to spark knock over Iridiums as I confirmed on my logs long ago and that alone tells me they got more firepower over Iridiums when energized.

So in short, yes. They are very with it, and I'm sticking to them.

it was def nerve racking just don't blow your rear end right after doing it. that was a panic until I had the rear out thinking I messed up the trans.

Still some getting used to. that mofo kicks hard in lower gears shifting unless your on the throttle.

I have a diff drop for my long travel so the skid plates are lowered 1.2" not a bad trade off for me but I hope it's enough to run a jfr pipe in the future

    2010 Tacoma Supercharged 4x4 manual
    Hello All,

I posted about a rattling sound I hear with my 2010 4L supercharged Tacoma a few years back. It's a slight rattle around 3200 RPM when there is no load on the sc. In 2017 I was thinking it was a bad idler pulley that I still have and need to replace. I'm not sure that was it. I pulled the sc back then and greased the rear needle bearings and changed the oil. I've got another 50K on it now and it still makes that rattle. It goes away if there is is any load on the sc. Have any of you noticed this or think it's anything to worry about? I was thinking of pulling it and having it rebuilt but am not sure if it needs it. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

    -Ethan

Rattle if it is coming from the front of the super charger sounds like the spring coupling to me. When it gets bad, it sounds like a box of rocks. I’d see if you can locate where the sound is coming from and go from there.

Thanks DocME. I'll see if I can hear the rattle from under the hood. I hadn't tried to recreate it other than when driving. I put the original spring coupler back in when I serviced the sc in 2017.

Usually, you won't hear it under load as the supercharger is loaded up the spring compresses back to the stops. If you aren't under load, then the spring can flex fore and aft allowing the noises that I describe. I prefer solid couplers for this reason. Yes, the spring coupler can be quieter when new, but they tend to fail before 100K miles.

No complaints with mine either. They seem to be as advertised. The only thing I get just slightly is a tiny bit of radio feedback when I am using the radio. And that is not even all the time. But mostly use bluetooth so that isn't an issue for me.

Same here. I really don't care about it as it does not bother me. It's nothing outside of what I already had.

That sure is sounding like what mine is doing. I've got a poly coupler that I intended to install when I serviced the sc in 2017. I may just put it on and see how it goes.

I almost guarantee it will. I replaced mine with the same upgraded Nylon coupler some years ago... when I was having the same symptoms.
