I fly commercial every 28 days and the sound of the landing gear cycling still freaks me out.I’ll stick to helicopters that have 5000 moving parts, but fixed landing gear.

...^^^.. I spent most of my working years in the "emergency equipment and specialised military equipment" business.

I can say for a fact ... that many people planned their trips around good CFR's (Crash Fire Rescue fire trucks) coupled with good crews (well known in the industry).

Of the many companies in the CFR business .... Oshkosh was and continues to be the best and most reliable of the group.

Rosenbauer's CFR's, while pretty, are not my favorite for dependability. Oshkosh is without a doubt the best ... NO, I did not work for Oshkosh, :)
    .
EDIT .. While I did not work for Oshkosh or Pierce Mfg. (owned by Oshkosh) .... I did know the 2 guys who made those companies big and famous. They were older and mentored me and always offered me jobs ... but I stayed an I dependent almost all of my career in that business.

Common sense design, PARTS & SERVICE is where Oshkosh shines.

In smaller airports ... if your CFR is down due to a service/parts problem and they substitute a "structural fire truck" with a mini system of AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) .... you are in big trouble if you have a fire in anything larger than a 172 (my opinions here too).

I see big airports sometimes buying fancy looking CFR's and they buy a few spare units to keep the necessary amount of units in front line service with some always in the shop.

This is the Orion orbiter on top of the upper stage of SLS currently being processed at the Multi-Payload Processing Facility at Kennedy. I am very lucky to have been able to play a very small part in eventually sending this rocket to orbit.

Nasa and multiple other entities have posted this exact photo if anyone was concerned about whether something like this should get posted...since I got blowback the last time I posted an out of cal Nasa Snap-on 6-16 inch lb torque wrench from the 60's:rolleyes: in the Tools thread.

Pretty awesome. I added bold to the important bits...we'll see if SLS actually gets off the ground at all or more than once before being cancelled.

People were skeptical of Apollo and Shuttle just the same. Hell I'm skeptical until the day it leaves the pad. But Biden just requested 24.7 billion from congress for Nasa's next fiscal year, for those counting at home, that's 1.3 billion more than they received for this year.

Three MAX-8 took off this morning and wow! They're super quiet.

    How's your experience with them?

BOMBARDIER Global 7500 (2020) FAA registry says and it makes sense now that Arthur Blank was there as AMB GROUP LLC is the jet owner (Blanks foundation)
