Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

This software has caused so many problems. It looks like a virus so it was getting deleted all the time, I just kept reinstalling it. Apparently you can only reinstall it so many times. One week delay getting the installation counter reset. Then it wouldn't reinstall right, so I got locked out again. Replied to the ticket 8 days ago, no response yet but I'm sure there is some emergency or other explanation.

I wanted to put it in a virtual machine so I wouldn't run into the problem again, I ran into the same problem as you. I'd expect he disabled it because you could just share the virtual machine file with anyone.

This software plus the cable was so expensive to buy! All I wanted to do on March 26 is update my alternator parameters for my new AGM battery and I'm still locked out of the software!

 

I responded to every ticket I found today about resetting keys. Please check.



You can't use it in a VM because people use VM to disassemble it.



The software is actually really simple to use and setup. I swear in 99.9999% of the cases of people having a ton of registration issues its because they don't use their original registration info. Literally 9.9 times out of 10. So I get bogged down constantly (honest to god constantly) telling people what their own info is.

 

Interesting, I used the old Flash Manager/OVTune in a VM for the last year, got a new Mac and found my System ID changed despite having the same VM (looks at the physical host hardware apparently). Figured I'd just have to wait for the new way of doing things that we're waiting on to be updated here in this thread. I ran into the VM issue with testing an install of VF as well.

I finally caved and am just using a good ol Wintel lappy (2017 i5 based HP EliteBook) so I can at least have a clean install of Windows on reliable hardware for flashing once it's available. I was trying to go the route of getting a new System ID reg key per Zendesk but no dice, but this was before I knew a new tool/way to license VF was coming for us Flash Kit owners.



I never really thought about that, since it's a VM the host can see into what it's doing when it comes to USB read/writes going in and out of the VM through the host hardware. Nice. Stinks for us, just have to use a PC or Boot Camp, but good to know the reasoning! Boot Camp isn't all bad, and you get native Windows speeds, but it does have to partition the disk where a VM can be dynamically sized and allocated. Handy for those of us with smaller SSDs. But it is what it is!

Can't wait for the flash kit replacement!

Dunno what the fuss is about.. I bought a cheap Windows machine that I only use for flashing/editing. Made exceptions for the folders where the "offending" software and tune files are, so antivirus doesn't go batshit crazy.
Literally no issues. Fully up to date too, through several versions.

You know full well it's like a hybrid gearlock and that the AT guys have been clamoring for MT-without-a-clutch-pedal ever since Mat first offered GL with 1.05 lol
