Can I use 80w90 in my diffs/tcase?

    Most things on this truck are fairly cheap to maintain properly. The TC fluid is the exception.

    3rd gen TC calls for LF though? Toyotas LF and LV have different part numbers, I do not know the difference and if it matters. My thought is since the manual refers to the LF fluid for my truck, I will follow that.

    Still fairly cheap, as far as a service is concerned...it's only 1 can.
    I wonder if people would feel better if the t.case took 8 quarts @ $11/qt.

    No doubt.

    Side note as I am looking up the maintenance items for my wifes Rav4, its TC takes .48 qts. lol. It's 75w-85, but it's so tiny lol. Rear diff, .5 qt of the same fluid.

    Redline's web site lists it as a suitable replacement for: Toyota/Lexus transfer case fluid "Genuine Gear Oil LF 75W“ 08885-81080. I'm OK with that YMMV.

    This thread discusses it.
