Texas Taco or Mexico Taco

How many 2021 Texas Tacos got out.
After I decided to buy my very first Toyota Tacoma, I noticed that the door sticker said Made in Mexico. The more I looked, the more I found that finding a new Tacoma that was made in Texas just might be impossible. So I narrowed down 3 in my area of PA, and the third one I looked at and decided to buy had a Made In Texas on it. Just curious how many more are going to be made in Texas.

 

The Texas Plant is transitioning out of Tacoma production so you won't find many more.

I had heard that the Texas plant was being retooled, but I couldn’t think of a single reason why it would matter where it was assembled.

 

It doesn't. Build quality between the two plants has been identical. Any issues in the vehicles have been coming from parts suppliers.

Those of us with 2016s still remember the Chinese rear diff gasket fiasco.

 

My 2021 Off Road 4WD was made in Mexico.

I thought I heard somewhere that only a specific body style (access cabs, maybe?) were still being made in Texas and everything else had shifted to Mexico.

 

At some point, San Antonio is going to be making Toyota's Tacoma/Tundra replacement. There have been so many rumors about it that I don't even pay attention to them. We'll see it whenever Toyota decides to share it with us.

 

California Tacos here in town was featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives, so I'd vote for CA.

On the other hand, they eat everything with a tortilla in Mexico and call it a Taco. Their street Tacos are legendary.

Personally in Texas I preferred the barbecue, though I remember a couple of fajitas that were awesome.

No first-hand knowledge here but I’ve heard that (as of now) on MT-equipped and/or Pro’s are built in Texas.

FWIW My Taco was built in Texas, although had it been built in Mexico that wouldn’t have been a factor for me.

 

I didn't believe the Kogi Food Truck Mexican Korean Fusion hype until one night my fiancé and I hunted one of them down on their routes and tried it out...

My 2021 is a MIM Taco. Don't recall the build date, but it's safe to assume it was actually built this year since I only bought it 3 weeks ago. And it was only on the lot 10 days.

 

When i placed an order for my 2020 access cab i had the dealer specifically have it built in texas which it was. I wanted to support our citizens in the states as much as possible. So far the truck has been wonderful.

 

We have some areas near where I live where many good manufacturing jobs have left so I’ve decided that the next time I order a new car or truck I will tell the dealer I want my new truck built in Santa Fe Springs, Ca
