Oh, I know. I'm doing a 3 step paint correction/restoration on my Toyota.

Soft paint sucks. I have to figure how to remove polish residue without marring the finish.

 

This is my tailgate with just Griots Finishing Sealant @Venom Used the G8.

griots is good shit. I use all all their stuff, ceramic green wax, the interior detailer is great as well as the heavy duty wheel cleaner. they are a WA based company with a cool store. They have sweet ass cars inside their shop

 

No. Since all the products have micro abrasives in them if the paint is in good condition even their final step products do wonders. I will say I take care my truck very well. I will usually do 2 step every other year if needed if not I’ll 1 step it.

 

Anyone using their clay bar before correction or any compounds? Any recommendations on a certain clay bar over another?

 

If you know you're going to ceramic coat after then look into "primers". Most primers are final polish grade level abrasives but Dr. Beasley's has a series of primers with 3 different levels of abrasive.

With primers you don't have to be as concerned with a final IPA or panel prep wipe down at the end. Still need to remove excess if there is any.

 

I’ve started using synthetic clay mitts or towels. So much faster and can use with soapy water.

 

@Venom one bigger pet peeves is glass. It drives me crazy. So at least twice a year I steel wool, polish and seal.

 

At one time I was looking at primers. I believe it was Gyeon.

I just bought the Jescar Ultra Lock Plus.

Every time I wipe the final polish off I leave marring. I think the last time I did correction I used a damp microfiber for the wipe down. Which help with the marring. I thinking of using McKees N914 for the wipe down.

I just did a glass polish on my Toyota. It removed some minor scratches but more important all the water marks are gone. Plus I finally remove the GTechniq G1 glass coating, 4 years it lasted.

 

I'd be looking at replacing the rags and how you wash them. Even if you bought the softest The Rag Company towels, you still need to wash it at home.

I'm not familiar with that AIO, wonder if you're not working it enough to break it down for the final wipe. Or using too much product causing more effort in the wipe up.

I tried Autogeek Chinchilla, the lime green one like the Chinchilla. I tried all the Autogeek microfiber plus The Rag Company Eagle edgeless. I don't have this issue on others vehicles I detailed. The repainted areas are worst than the original clear coat on this Toyota.

 

This girl I know, once I get in the detailing mind set the only way to get my attention is she goes topless.

People are yelling at me and I won't hear a thing. I go into the zone, not Autozone.

 

That’s the truth. Next thing you know you have about $500 in compounds, soaps, sealants, leather treatments, interior cleaner, tire dressings etc...

Don’t even get me started on foam cannons

 

I have about $2,000 in detailing supplies. I bought more than I ever going to use. Years later they're either going to someone or the trash.

Detailing supplies are truely addictive. Got to have the latest and greatest.

 

I've got a Kranzle pressure washer, mosmatic stubby gun with wand quick disco, Cox reel with 75' of Kobrajet hose and a PF22 MTM foam cannon.

I live in a condo and all that isn't even installed at my place of residence.

Mom does appreciate the always clean car though.
