Do we have enough people that know the park? or like you said we'll just wing it.

What tires are you on? Sorry I don't know what 3rd Gen stocks are. Please tell me they're at least ATs lol

My thoughts as well. I'm really enjoying dailying a stock truck after having 650# springs, a 2" lift and E code tires on my 2012. It got me to some interesting places much easier than if I was stock. But that is like 2% of what I use the truck for. I'm also grabbing sliders this week. They should be done Thursday so I'll be putting a quick coat of paint on them and bolting them up Friday night...or saturday morning in the parking lot.

Stock 3rd gen tires are goodyear wrangler all terrains. Good on dirt, rocks, snow. ehh in mud.

    I think one or two.

I've only been once, but I assume the local Jeep crowd will be there with some more guidance. Nobody here should be too worried about the south side of the park. Recovery will probably only be necessary if it's really slippery and/or you have stock tires.

Speaking of gear priorities, I saw a Jeep with highway tires winching himself out there. Not sure how he ended up with a winch before tires.

Yeah they're at least ATs but like, the bare minimum of ATs  but, everything I have done I've kept up. I know my limits and go only slightly beyond that :D

Nice! Mine are slightly worn and should be repainted before I remount them but I might just wing it and put them on and mask off with them on the truck rather than try to paint them before this weekend. o_O

I had a winch mounted before tires... but I also had that winch before this truck. Most places I go your stuck in 1-2" of snot, not hung up on anything.

Check out my post earlier - I'm fun at parties.

They can but not legally, yeah if anyone doesn't have a radio I'd recommend grabbing
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DM7AESK

or any FRS radio, really. These were just the cheapest I found on a quick Amazon.

If anyone already has the baofeng I can bring my computer and cable and program it up for y'all, for receiving only I cannot put it in if you're going to TX with it :spy: wink wink nudge nudge

What sliders did you end up going with? Seems like every company is 1000+ miles away.

    legally yes. Radio nerd yes.

for all practical reasons - nah you’re good.

I’m going to build a chirp profile for y’all BaoFengs. 1-22 will be frs gmrs receive only “ “ “ “ and 101-107 for the weather channels.

nah baofengs are fine - they’re shitty radios but the ham community is so grumpy about them because they spent hundreds of dollars on equipment and now you can get a cheapy radio and participate without “earning it”. Hell I don’t even know CW.

that radio will do all you need, just can’t legally transmit :spy:

although - if you end up going out with say an official off road club, they’re likely to tell you no just for legal reasons since they’re real. This is just a bunch of dudes in trucks going out in the woods.

Putting sliders on tomorrow or Wednesday after work. Decided they’re going on before repainting. Might even be able to get that stupid front most bolt in this time - never went in last time because I’m not Gumby.

The explore overland guys I mentioned I got my sliders from are south of Utica, probably 45min from you. They sell and install Ironman and Dobinsons suspensions.

Should I take off my mud flaps? Haha.
Probably a dumb question, but these old things aren’t cheap to replace.
