We had ours done when we first bought the house, and that'll be 9 years this fall. It's just the two of us and we don't send anything unnatural down the drains, but the leach bed is the original to the house (built in the late 70's), so where it's an older system I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Ok, maybe a stupid self moment. I used my JD1830 to split wood last fall. It was with a 32 ton Splitfire splitter. The transaxle got too hot to touch (the moments) after several hours working. After that the hydraulics started to shudder when raising the loader and/or 3pt hitch.

On the weekend I changed the fluid, the transmission filter element and cleaned the intake screen. The screen was 30% covered in crap. I thought after the cleaning and new fluid things would be back to normal...but the shuddering is worse than before! Should I be concerned about the hydraulic pump, clean the screen again, not worry about it on a 50 year old tractor? The screen deposits looked like crunchy carbon deposits. Maybe the cooking loosened up hard deposits in the system?

    Any thoughts?

Hopefully they're not crunchy 'burnt seal' pieces. That would explain the shuddering, although not necessarily that it got worse, unless it's shuddering because there's air in the system

After cutting my 5 acres. Think it’s time to swap the oem blades for some gator blades. Love this mower more every time I get on it. Sure smokes the hell out of my old exmark walk behind.

I've always heard gator blades are more for mulching and don't cut grass very good because they don't create enough vacuum to suck and hold the grass up. Not sure if it's true or not.

My Frankenmower has an 18 HP Briggs Vanguard and I never buy the Briggs filters for it. I used a PL14476 this time. $6, bigger, and probably better than an OEM filter.

I had them on my exmark and they performed well. We shall see. There like 50$ for all 3 so not like I’ll be out much if they do suck.

i have no idea if i have gator blades, but iknow they are mulchers and I'll never be without them. They just pulverize the leaves and grass.

I’ve had a set on my JD 2320 with a 62” deck. They performed much better than the stock. I’d expect great things out of a zero turn which has a higher blade speed by design.

I use Gator blades on my Kubota, they do pretty well, still need to have the deflector up when in tall stuff, a second pass usually takes care of unmulched clumps.

I may get a set for the Hustler and see what happens. If they don’t do good in grass I can always use them this fall when I put the vacuum back on.

Not sure why I didn’t do this before now. My quick attach is always fighting each other. The right side always comes out first. Not anymore :D

Already had a bees nest started on both sides under the fender where the hand holes are. Every year there is one. They both had one bee each so far.

Well that would have made for quite a surprise the first time you used the hand grip

Last year I got on and off the tractor and used the hand hole, then noticed a wasp nest there with about 6-8 wasp on it. Lucky I didn't get stung!!!
