Or a built-in stereo!

 

Whenever I played Grand Theft Auto (especially vice city, which just so happens to haven taken place in 1986) and stole a scooter, I always wondered if there was any way a scooter could have a fully functioning built-in FM radio...

Well, this beast not only has an AM/FM stereo, but it even has a tape deck; Doesn't get more 80s than that!


Not entirely sure the head unit is original though; It looks more mid-1990s than 1980s, and I'm guessing that it was replaced at some point. The speakers on either side of the HU also used to be located underneath those plastic grilles on either side of the handlebars...

 

Kinda resembles the beige Honda scooter ridden by Linda Hamilton in the first Terminator movie (The old man who owned this scooter knew exactly what I was talking about when I said it looked like "the one from Terminator")...

 

It has an automatic transmission and is most definitely easier to ride than a typical motorcycle, but it still has a big enough engine that a motorcycle license is required to ride it on any public road in Pennsylvania...

 

The owner was just about ready to leave, and showed up while I was taking pictures of the Festiva (that's him in the picture); I am a total nerd when it comes to any unique motor vehicle (scooters), so I went up to him, started hounding him with questions about his ride, and got permission to take pictures...

 

I've seen a lot of these on the road over the last 20 years or so, but I never knew a specific model name until now...

 

It was almost silent when started, and ran about as good as you'd expect any Honda product to run (which was pretty damn good)...
