I really like my CBI full hoop bumper. They wont be a damage multiplier.

I don't think any true plate bumper is a damage multiplier. Just those little brush guards. I went ARB due to availability, it already being powder coated, they are the only ones that I'm aware actually test/design for animal impact (kangaroo), and they are the only ones that claim compatibility with airbag sensors.

...please don't go down the route of arguing about the airbag sensors...they should ALL work with the sensors. I'm just saying that ARB publicly claims compatibility.

If not ARB, my next choice would be Demello. They are reinforced better than any others I've seen.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
So Demello, At The Helm Fabrications, and Relentless Fabrications are the ones I keep coming back to. My struggle now is do i go with what I really like in a style, or stay with the reason for the purchase to begin with? I prefer the Baja style with the high center hoop. All three make this, and keep the tube work inside the frame of the grill of the truck. That seems pretty sound to me, except Demello doesn't offer the secondary side supports to reinforce the center hoop and reduce it's movement on impact. (I have reached out to ask about it.) ATH does have this and it actually extends the furthest out, offering a little more protection. The full hoop is what I was focused on because of the full protection. But I have seen some of these flex back into the vehicles and cause damage. So take a chance on the style I want and risk the damage or get the one that makes the most sense and risk the same damage? Sales end quick, so I need to decide. It will be steel over aluminum for cost and durability.

The mounting points on the frame of the truck will bend rearward way before the hoops ever will due to the crumple nature of the front of the frame. What I mean is I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture where the main bumper was in-tact and only the hoops themselves bent backward. The whole upper bumper will bend back, pivoting on the mounting points. I would get whatever bumper you prefer the most aesthetically.

There are a few in this thread, mostly from animals not impacting the front of the bumper, but the hoops themselves taking the impact. That's my primary concern, and either style will pose that risk. The bigger concern is being safe and hoping to drive away after.

    You getting any sleep yet?

A guy tried to make an illegal turn and skip the 1hr+ traffic in front of me. I wouldn't let him in and he slowly pushed his headlight into my SSO front right shackle. I showed the dashcam vid to the insurance company and I didn't have to pay anything. The adjuster was actually looking for stuff so he could make the other guy pay me because what he did was such a dumb asshole move. Sadly, he barely scratched the paint, but he did cave in his whole headlight lol. Sorry, no pics but I might have the video of the hit somewhere if anyone wants to see it. Pretty boring to watch though from inside the truck.

Has anyone had a steelcraft bumper and hit something with it by chance?

Crazy accident! glad that the driver was able to walk away, it looks like the front bumper was mostly intact too even though the vehicle looks like a crushed soda can.

Dude that bumper is twisted like crazy. Not saying that any other would necessarily do better, but that is not intact at all

By intact I meant that its still 1 piece instead of several pieces breaking off of the front bumper like we have seen with Fab Fours bumpers.

ARB bumper...almost head on collision at 65mph. Other guy crossed the yellow line and hit the drivers side of my bumper. My bumper peeled off his hood, bumper and drivers door (Chrysler Sebring). After I rolled the truck 2.5 times I walked away without a scratch on me. Best money I ever spent.

Just fore kicks, here is a before pic...

Just browsing salvage trucks and came across this ARB on a 3rd gen. Don't know what it hit or at what speed.

My guess is a powerline pole or tree.

Save the wheels! Might as well get the hub assemblies too.

I thought this would be the best place to ask... You guys that got color matched ARB Bull Bars, how are you ordering them color matched (from where) or are they coming black and you take them somewhere local?

AFAIK ARB AUS can be ordered color matched to your ute but ARB USA only offers black you'ed have to paint it yourself.

Personally I think the color matched bumpers look kind of funky, I like the contrast of a satin black bumper against the gloss color of the truck.

Granted I'm also black on black on black...
