It has adaptive but not full speed (which the LX does have). Those of us who live in big cities appreciate the full speed in stop and go. It would have been a deal breaker on my Taco if it was a DD.

I'd buy a LC 200 series before using Apple CarPlay. It's something I will never use.

Brings the truck to a full stop then starts again when traffic starts moving. The LC and Taco both shut the adaptive off under 25mph.

Good for you. Thankfully if a car has CarPlay you can choose not to use it unlike the flip side.

I really dont see an issue. Whats the difference in a 90k LC and a $3500 set of Kings?

Nothing. No difference what so ever.

Neither will get used to its full potential by 95% of buyers and are bought soley as a status symbol or because they think they "need it"

You dont need a LC to get groceries.
You dont need Kings to ride FSR's

Neither are worth what they cost.

    Yea i said it.

What people choose to spend there money on is fine with me. I could care less.

Well I don't care what people spend their money on but the LC is without a doubt a superior vehicle off the dealer floor.

I agree. There nice and i cant afford it.

But the original post i feel like was intended to imply that if somebody had 90k they wouldnt be spending it on a LC.

I see plenty of them on the road so i disagree.

One mans 90k spent on a LC is another mans 90k that gets blown in Vegas.

Point being let people spend what they want on what they want. Who am i to say its a crazy thing to spend money on just b/c i cant afford it.

I don't have too much to add beyond what's already been said. They're really high quality vehicles - and the extra 40K over a Taco gets you rear disc brakes :D

Prices are kind of high especially now that supply is almost gone, but depending on your area they're more or less than 90K. Out east they're 82-84K, out west, CA/NV they're as much as $100-115K

I recently picked up a 2021 Heritage after I sold my 100 series. The 100 really got me sold on the platform and I do think it's worth it. The 200 is super solid and feels like you're driving in a bank vault. My Tacoma is still fun to drive though, it feels lighter and a little more agile in comparison.

We needed a new family car and our 3 priorities were safety, the ability to go offroad, and space/comfort. We were surprised how hard it was to find anything we liked in the 40-50K initial price range, and even after we bumped it up to 90K

100K+ G-Wagen: You want an old design, that thing is basically unchanged since 1978. That's a plus for me though, love the solid axles, lockers etc. Poor reliability as well (on the new models) - I have a friend who bought one and the trans went out. Another mechanic friend told me simple parts are $$$ and fail all the time. Though I do have a friend with a 96 Europa import and it seems like he rarely has problems. Might just be the 2000+ Benz electronics and V8s.
80K+ Range Rover/Land Rover: Look great, good offroad, poor reliability
60K+ AEV RAM: This is what I was rooting for, with 40s and a FWC, but my wife didn't want to drive something that large around town. Can't blame her
50K+ Ford Expedition: Just a little too big, not great offroad, at least for the trails we like in Utah. Same story for Chevy/GMC SUVs. Too big and unknown reliability
50K+ Sequoia: Large, pretty nice inside, Pro version improves the looks a little. IRS though, probably would do just fine on forest service roads. Ugly IMO
40K+ 4Runner: Been a fan for a long time. Test drove several and wanted to like them but couldn't bring myself to buy one. Felt underpowered with a cheap interior - Tacoma is much nicer. Not actually much smaller than 200 but the 3rd row seats were a joke, not putting kids back there. Also found out it had marginal crash test ratings in one or two areas which was disappointing.
40K+ Tundra: Reliable, great engine (same as 200 series though with better power to weight), roomy cab, basic but comfortable. Also too large for my wife
40K+ Highlander: Not taking that offroad. Comfortable and nice inside, boring, like a large camry. The responsible car you should buy but don't want to.
35K+ Sienna: Everyone and their dog says "just try one bro, I know I know, but minivans are a gamechanger" haha. I'm sure they're so nice for families but I just couldn't do it. Also not taking it offroad.

We shopped for a few months and just lived with my Tacoma for a while as our only car. At the end of the day we didn't like anything as much as we liked the 200 series.

They don't crash test them here in the US but in Australia they have great safety ratings. They're also super beefy in every way - fully boxed frame, bigger diffs/axles - even down to the TREs and stuff. You might have seen this pic floating around the internet - Tacoma on right, 200 series on left:
    img_1481-jpeg_8291337fe1f100468cf10a500364c214ca1cebc8.jpg

Granted the one drawback with that is weight. I learned that lesson the hard way when I overloaded my 100 series and was driving around a 7000lb truck that handled like a boat with 35s.

Anyway now we have my Tacoma which I'm building as a lightweight desert truck and the 200 which will be our family outdoor/offroad/camping vehicle. Might do a lift and RTT, we'll see. Also might have to add CarPlay.

We plan on keeping them as long as we can. Trying to break the cycle of buying new cars every few years and hang onto these til our kids go to college.

Those are sick too, the V8 is a good setup and I think they look especially good in the early model years before the grille got huge. Don't love AHC but I assume there's a way to replace it with a conventional setup.

Now the Suzuki Jimny is a cool little beast, just not sold in the USA. Solid axles with 3 link and body on frame like the LC

I recommend the gx470/460 to everyone who wants a offroad vehicle but doesn't want a 4runner premium. Normally im talking about the 470 range because they're want an older car. 4th gen 4runner prices are nuts right now.

I love the older Landcruisers, pre 1998.
The new ones for $90k though, id probably consider a dealer loaded Rubicon first and still save $15k. I know it’s not Apple to apples but just the way I feel about it. The landcruiser doesn’t even have a solid front axle anymore.

The 4runner market and the used off-road vehicle market, in general, is crazy right now, I'm swapping my Tacoma for a 100 or 200 series LC because I couldn't find a decent 4runner for a reasonable price. I looked at GX460's but I couldn't bring myself to drive a vehicle with a Lexus badge. (lol)

As others have mentioned, I understand why the new Land Cruisers are $90k, but man is it crazy, Toyota lost track of who the market for the Land Cruiser is in the United States, and they won't/can't import the 70 series so now they're pulling the LC badge from the U.S., so business goes I suppose.
