Speaking of sending it, the toyota service department just called and let me know they failed to install a part correctly or left it out completely and that is why my timing cover was leaking again.

 

Well shit. That good/bad news. Good news it should be fixed fully warranty and new warranty for the work done. bad news. Techs need to not rush and do the work properly. I know warranty work can suck for time payout. But double work for same job pays less.
Glad it’s getting fixed up!!

I'm still going to get rid of it though. I won't ever trust it and once it's out of warranty I don't want to fix that shit myself when it fails again.

 

What part could the possibly leave out? Sounds to me like they playing you for a fool? Or they never cracked it open in first place and just tried to tighten and seal around cover or something.

Some cover job so you don't build a lemon law case.

Off topic... anyone have their attic insulated with spray foam? I’m debating about having it done to my house but not sure if it’s really cost effective and worth it.

if you’ve done it, was it expensive? Are you seeing a huge difference in energy costs? Are you seeing you house stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter ?

 

I bought my house with 2x foam insulation in the attic. The previous owner wanted the house that way. Im not really sure what i save at all.
My winter month srp bills are 26-50$ depending if i need to run the heat. Summers have been as high as 170. I also have solar panels.

 

I'm about ready to wrap the whole hood flat black. Tired of the glare from the sun in the morning.

And where it hits would not be covered by even the largest pre-made matte vinyl that I've seen for 3rd gens.

 

Let me know how it goes. I'm contemplating doing the same thing on my Inferno.

 

Just block sand it with some 320...problem solved.
