I got the top extended warranty (at the time) with my 09 Taco and put it to very good use. Had a lot of stuff replaced multiple times.

On my 19 Taco I got the extended care, but not the full platinum warranty (I think gold or something like that). This was about half the price of the full warranty. I mainly did this for the free services and extending the life of the warranty...

That said, if you're not planning on dunking your Taco in silty, muddy water after 5 hours of highway driving, you likely won't need the extended warranty...

I've owned 8 Toyotas of all genera from brand new and never needed the extended warranty with the exception of 09 Taco, which was from the way I used the old girl off road... She's still going strong and never lets me down!

most issues start past the 90k mark if anything. I grabbed the extended when i picked up the truck ( :welder:120k km is when it ends :sawzall:) i have a small leak in my steering rack and when i spoke to Toyota about it, they said they'd be fine with fixing it. but double check it's Toyota doing the warrenty and not some 3rd party that holds it, i had to fetch some papers from a bank vault to prove that i do have it for the truck.

Constructive advise...... ok well b4 your Tacoma comes home buy a safe don't look at the combination, take your wallet and lock it up in there. Because if your going to "hang" hear for a while there is plenty of upgrades and info on upgrades for you. So yes use the warantee money for upgrades.... oh and welcome:):turtleride:

TRD emblems, tinted windows, OEM running boards, AVS vent shades, RMAS upgrade, LED lights in front and rear, interior LED lighting upgrade, LED lighting in bed, touch control dash mount for LED lighting, auxillary 12v and USB jacks in bed, replace all speakers with Infinity, custom mod with Bose tweeters, TRD Pro illumination mod...
For the 2017 there have been no major recalls and from personal experience I have only had to replace the battery which I suggest since the OEM battery is really for cars, not trucks with auxiliary lighting etc.

Edit: I do recommend getting the update for the radio and finding someone to do the OVTune update on the ECU.

Need more details! Manual? Any mods currently on it? PICS????

    :worthless:

Id say it depends what you want to do with the truck, if you're going to be modding it then no.

If its gunna be a boring old DD and don't care for any parts beyond OEM - then yes, a truck at this price point with 82k on the clock, I probably would.

:D I don't have the truck yet, so no pics! I just heard that I can pick it up Thursday. Can't wait!
I'll probably won't (heavily) mod it (Famous Last Words), and since I work from home, it's barely a daily driver.
I always wanted a Tacoma, the bed is handy, and it will mostly be used to haul my MTB and MTB trail building tools.

I was into offroading long time ago, had a crappy TJ, and would love to take it out on some mild trails at some point for sure. But I don't think I'll be lifting it and putting 33's on it :D

Oh, and it's a auto DCSB

    Welcome to team DCSB!

Just wait until you find out skinny 33's fit without a lift on OEM wheels :stirthepot:

I also accept pics of MTB :)

Those are awesome pictures and thanks for sharing and welcome to the best thread on TW!

I say skip the warranty purchase. That’s why you’re buying Toyota for reliability.

Extended warranty is underwritten by Toyota's finance arm; it's more like repair insurance. As with most insurance, on average you'll lose money (i.e. repairs during the 3yrs/60K will be less than $2300) - Toyota has an army of data analysts to make sure of it. Like others have said, if you wheel your truck through mud and deep water, the life of many components will be drastically shortened (wheel bearings, starter, steering rack), at which point an extended warranty may make sense. For normal street usage it isn't necessary.

You can shop around different dealers around the country for better pricing on the warranty as there's a lot of profit margin built in. At $2300, the dealer is probably making more from the warranty than from the truck sale.

When this stay at home order is done, we need to start some TW meetup ride series. The trails have already been great this year!!!

I agree 100%. Dealers make a lot of money selling these warranties and scotch guarding the seats under coating the truck etc.

In 1999 I bought a brand new Yamaha grizzly ATV that I still drive to this day. The price was $7800 and I paid $690 for a fancy warranty as he said wheel bearings were expensive repairs and I was very naïve. I am still driving on those factory wheel bearings.

OEM wheels are +20 offset, a set of 255/85/16s or 255/80/17s (pretty sure that's 33" for 17s) will fit with minor alterations.

i have -12offset, had to bang in the pinch weld as well as do some minor cutting of plastics.
