Congratulations on rescuing ELLA, great breed and a good thing to do.

GSD's are very loyal and protective, I had a solid black long-haired female for 13 years.

Sorry to say, she developed hip dysplasia at an early age and could not run very much; something to watch out for.

Good luck, hope you and your family enjoy ELLA for a very long time.

+100% I grew up with them, and out last one died 3 years ago. I miss having a GSD around. Currewnt living situation won't allow for it, but hopefully that will change in 2 years when I get more space!!

Can't wait to see more pics of your adventures!!!

8 months and 80 pounds?! Took my Shepherd till age 3 before he hit that weight. Super active. He was always so lanky I wondered if he’d ever bulk up

Ella is a female so I don't think she will be that heavy. We learned quite a bit about what not to feed a dog (our previous dog made it to 15 years shepherd/colie/lab) so we hope that Ella will be with us many years. Diet and purified water (free of chlorine and fluoride) is everything to these guys, genetics ofcourse play the biggest part. So since we love camping we always haul our water from home:)...I know it sounds funny.

Ugh.. I have a Labradoodle that sheds like she's all Lab. It's ridiculous. We can't keep uncovered drinks in the car with the windows down or we end up sucking fur up the straw.
Just so you're aware, there is a lot of recent research suggesting links between grain free dog food and heart disease. The research is still ongoing but there has been an alarming increase of reported cases of DCM since 2018. Could be reporting or awareness bias, but a lot of vets I've spoken to have suggested avoiding grain free until the data is better understood.

Congrats on the pooch! I'll be picking up a GSD puppy on the 25th so I am very excited.

Between them and huskys. They are too smart for their own good. You are right though. They are great friends and great entertainment.

They are Kings. So they are considered purebred. But many generations ago they were crossed with a Great Pyrenees. So this is the reason for their size, bent noses, and his longer hair. They will get bigger. Per the vet, Daisy should top 85-90. Diesel should near 100. Can't wait!
