I might need some hand holding too, even though I've installed snorkels on each of my last three vehicles I think cutting the bedsides is gonna give me pause.

    Yeah.
Do you have air tools and a nibbler? Nibblers are awesome for that.

I wanted the 40W radio but it doesn't get the weather channels and also won't fit in the place I want without some dremeling of the plastic. That doesn't usually end up looking real nice.

I went with the Midland MXT275 to install with an Alamosa 42" 6dBi gain bumper mount antenna.

I think we're soon to be getting a kicking GMRS repeater in the Paron area. That would be nice.

    Yeah.
Like human body? That's cool, but not the right tool.

Nibblers don't distort the body panel while you nibble off the stuff you don't want, and easy to control.

Aussie style! I like it! Not many people here run that style "aerial" as they call them. I want as much of the signal to be free of interference so the best place is the roof. It will only be blocked to the rear by the RTT when it is installed, so it will be ideal for any day wheeling trips when I don't have the tent. With the tent on the rack, the antenna will still be up as high as possible and there's not much else I can do about it. I thought about doing a bumper mount but I don't feel like welding tabs on to my light hoop. And then there's the whole cab in the way of the signal deal...

How would I do that for an NMO mount? I'll take the antenna if you're giving it away....is it too tall for you?

The last one made a loop around lake Winona from Paron (south side entrance) to the spillway dam. There is a route to get to HWY9 via Kanis Rd from Rodney Parham.

The host announces the route at the meet. Then we follow him. I suspect it will be something similar based on starting on Parham and out to the Ouachita NF.

    Here's the last map.

Midland sells an NMO mag-mount, I have it on my roof, works great. Wire isn't hidden, but no drilling either. Easy to route.

Only other GMRS repeater close by is in Russellville, I think? We need a network of them, but it's a start.

Anyone interested in a trip to Hot Springs ORV park? From the map it looks like it has something to offer everyone.

I haven’t been there in years. It was fun then, I’m sure it’s even better now. I’d be down.

In the coming weeks we should try and get a day trip set up and see what it has to offer. I have not been out there yet but after the TN trip, I need to get out more.
