Greasing OME Dakar Bushings

I've been researching this all morning but can't seem to find a straight answer or my Google-jitsu is weak today.

Where should I grease my OMESB108 (https://www.4wheelparts.com/Suspens....aspx?t_c=1&t_s=20&t_pt=4496&t_pn=ARBOMESB108) bushings I'm installing today on my Dakar EL095R leaf springs? I see lots of different opinions. Some people grease them just on the tip of the inner metal sleeve. Some people grease the whole bushing on the ribbed face that will contact the spring eye. I saw people arguing about which was right. So...round two?

Also, what grease would you recommend? The package says to use OME grease, but it didn't come with any.

I haven’t installed my Dakar’s yet. However, I will grease the inside of the bushings and inside of the sleeve where the bolt goes through.

 

So you don't grease the ribbed outer part (which contacts the eye)?

 

I read somewhere “they” don’t do that to limit the bushing turning in the spring eye. This is one cause of squeaking.

 

I greased every part of mine. No squeaks. No issues.

 

I greased the inner bushing and sleeve, and the outer face of the bushings. I still have squeaks, but it doesn’t bother me since the OEMs squeaked as well. I only hear it at slow speeds, like parking lots or pulling in/out of my driveway.

 

I went with Super Lube and only greased the inner part (I started after the first post). Wish me luck! Meanwhile I found most of my bolts pitted and extremely rusty so I may just replace them anyways. Do you guys replace your stock shackle bushing (the one that isn't part of the leaf) when you do your leaf springs? Mine would be 12 years old.... but it didn't occur to me that they hadn't provided me with all the bushings involved in the leaf springs.

 

It will be all apart, I’m replacing everything, bolts, bushing, etc.

Yeah, not supposed to grease the OD of the bushings so that they don't possibly rotate in the leaf spring. The center sleeve gets greased on the inside and the outside is the easiest way to describe it, so that the bolt going thru it doesn't rust, and any rotation between the sleeve and the bushing is "more free" with the grease in place. If that wasn't greased, it would creak and make a horrible noise.

 

Wonder if theie is an instal video for the leaf replacement and do the arrows point to the front of the truck?

 

Yes, the arrows point to the front. The bigger end of the leaf spring fits into the fixed end, while the smaller end goes to the shackle end.

 

Any update on how Super Lube did? Thinking about using it also
