Does it actually fit better than the CSF? What's the difference?

 

I thought the CSF had some fitment issues, which is why I am going with the AFE.

Value. I dont want to pay more for the CSF Tacoma radiator when the CSF FJ model is cheaper. But then i would have to buy the FJ fan shroud, overflow, etc..
Which makes it equal or more than the Tacoma model.

I want to try the AFe radiator and hope its all PnP. I know its a gamble since I haven't read any adopters of the AFe product yet.

Lastly, I've read somewhere here that CSF's post purchase support is quite lacking these days. I dont want to associate with service like that.

And I'm not brave enough to trust the all aluminum $140 ebay radiator (Champion) from ebay (china). Historically bad fitment issues and pinhole leaks.

Also, i dont have the loot for a Ron Davis radiator nor would I buy one due to prior dealings with them. My problem with them also has to do with customer service/warranty issues after you've handed over your $$$ to them.

 

Where will you post results? An alternate thread?

 

I haven't purchased it (afe) yet, but I will start a new thread if I do buy and review it.

Guess I should chime in. Ive been watching this thread for a bit now. Ive had the radiator 2 years already. Didnt realize i was dragging my heels that much. Finally ordered the parts last week. New oem fan shroud and coolant tank from a 2010+ fj

 

I’m curious about under what conditions the stock units underperformed. I’ve driven vehicles that needed this help but haven’t overheated this one yet. Lacking a real temp gauge though it’s difficult to know if it’s ever been close. Is is rock or pavement crawling in hot weather? Long grades towing heavy trailers?

I’ve been watching this thread since it started and figured I’d be doing it when mine the time comes to replace it. Is the stock shroud ABS and has anyone attempted to add to the bottom to include the added 2” of fin area in the draw?

 

The stock shroud doesn’t cover the extra 2” of radiator height and the FJ unit does. Eliminates the shroud mod but requires a matching overflow tank.

So far I’m none of the above, just freeway crawling. But having had most previous vehicles suffer from insufficient capacity I’m on the lookout.
