There is a massive chip shortage. Tundra, Tacoma, F150, all Subaru, producing at less than 20% or completely shut down.

Toyota has a stockpile of chips.

I bought in December 2019 just before covid hit when the lots were full. I'm happy with my 2020 SR V6 4X4 SX with a few add ons for $30.5 K

Most autos drop 3k in value when you drive it off the lot so its nice that I could sell my 15 month old truck for more than I paid for it.

Seems weird, right? Considering that one, I paid good $$ for. The other, you'd have to pay me ....

My wife's new Forester has that start/stop bullshit. The dealer failed to inform us that it actually had that. When we drove it off the lot and then going to lunch, we were thinking 'WTF??!! The engine keeps dying!!" .. Was about ready to go right back to the dealer.
Realized what it was and also saw there's a button on the dash to turn it off. Prob is, after about 100 miles of it being off ... It just decides to turn itself back on. Gawd, I hate that thing.
I'm hoping that the first time I take it into the dealer for service, it's something the Tech can just de-program out of the computer.
All I'm thinking is, in say a 50 mile trip. What am I saving? 2-3 tablespoons of gas coming to a stop at a light? At the same time having the starter motor work 20 times vs. the one time when I first started the engine? Hey, if I'm going to sit there 10-15 minutes waiting for a train to go by, I'll shut the engine down myself. I don't need/want my rig to shut down after 30 seconds.
Yeah, this is one of those completely unnecessary massive PITA things. And just another something else to go wrong down the line somewhere.

Typically, vehicles with stop / start do not use a typical starter. It is a much larger genny on the crank along with an AGM or better battery.

Not really different than Wranglers and Tacos for off road rigs?

It all depends on how its used by the owners.

I crosshopped Tacos, Wranglers, WRXs, and the OG Legacy GT2.5 wagons, all in MTs. Used, their prices were all in the heavens or heavily molested. At that point, a new Taco just made the most sense.

Local dealer just sold their last TRD Sport on the lot the other day @$34k (4x2). Lots of SR5 and SR though. I paid just under $30k for my 2018. While I appreciate they are holding value, damn it's only $4k under what they were selling for new with 47k miles.

I still think it's completely unnecessary and something to go wonky later on. Of course I'm one of those guys that prefer a MT and don't mind turning the little crank to open/close my windows either. And I like actual wind-wings ... :D

I'm not a fan of it either, but a lot of folks do like it. My wife wanted to dump her XT for the new Sport that she had for a loaner. It didn't hurt that it felt about as quick and got another 8 or 9 MPG.

I chose the MT non-Tech / non-Prem for similar reasons. Simple is better for me. If there was a Tow Package on the 2017 2.7l 5MT, I would have gotten that one.

Same here. When I went to order mine last year, the sales-lady at the dealer gave me the 'quizzical dog look' when I said 'Manual Transmission' ... I was told 'Well .... MAYbe .... But I can't promise you when or even IF..' So I'm counting myself lucky to get 9 of the 10 things I was originally looking for. Life is compromises, right? LOL!

Same! I may have had lusty thoughts. Thankfully, I like the Taco a bit too much and unfortunately, my wife doesn't like the Bronco in the least. SMH!

If they hook up the 2.7l EB or a Coyote to the 7spd, I might be in trouble, esp with the 'Squatch package.

Coming away from my perfect two bike garage, the MT had to be there. It would have been a silly thing for me to say in 2017, but I really don't mind if I ride or drive on any given day, even on the fun roads.
